Red Alert: Biden Vows Obama Will Use Executive Orders To Further Gun Control After Senate Failure


They can’t pass gun control via Congress so they’re going the dictator route. This is not going to go over well.
WASHINGTON — Vice President Biden told White House allies in the gun control fight Thursday that President Obama will be announcing new executive actions on gun violence in the days after the Senate voted down a gun violence bill.
On a conference call with “stakeholders,” Biden told gun control advocates that the fight is not over and that eventual action on gun control will come. Press were not invited to the conference call; a participant provided BuzzFeed with access.
“Look I know you’re going to say that I’m just being an optimist and I’m trying to put a good face on this. But you know I’ve been around here a long time and we’ve already done, because of you, some really good things,” Biden said. “Number one, the president is already lining up some additional executive actions he’s going to be taking later this week.”
After the Newtown shootings, Obama took a number of executive actions to expand research into gun violence and other areas favored by the gun control community. He took the actions without Congressional approval, leading to outrage by some conservatives.
Biden mentioned several areas where executive action has been taken, including helping schools that want them to hire more armed police offers and training teachers to identify and treat possible future school shooters.

 AP Poll: Obama's Approval Rating At Lowest Point Since Re-Election

A new poll from AP/GfK shows President Obama has hit his lowest approval rating since taking office and support for his handling of the economy has slipped.
Some 52 percent disapprove of his economic stewardship, up from 48 percent last September, while approval has ticked down to 46 percent from 48 percent, the poll found. Among independents, disapproval jumped 10 points to 57 percent.
His overall job approval stands at 50 percent with 47 percent disapproving. Disapproval among independents is slightly higher, at 49 percent.
Like other polls, the AP/GfK survey released Thursday shows Obama’s post-election popularity bump has now dissipated, while Americans continue to grapple with a sluggish economic recovery and many are not as hopeful about the future of the country.

House Democrats will continue to push for gun control legislation despite the Senate’s failure to pass a bipartisan agreement to expand background checks, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi told reporters Thursday.
“It’s disappointing,” Pelosi said of Wednesday’s defeat of the Manchin-Toomey amendment in the Senate. “But again, it’s going to energize the efforts so that even more attention is paid on the choices made here in Congress and who is on the side of the safety of our children.” [...]
“The process on where to go from here is we will be collecting any bipartisan sign up as co-sponsors of the bill, which is already bipartisan… What we want also is a vote,” Pelosi said. The American people can say to the leadership in Congress to Speaker Boehner, ‘Give us a vote.’ As you can see, we’re just not taking no for an answer.”
