DHS Designates California and Connecticut As Sanctuary States

weaselzippers

Buh-bye federal funding!

[Ed; And who Says there is no joy in Mudville tonight?]

Via Free Beacon:

The Department of Homeland Security added the entire states of California and Connecticut to its list of U.S. jurisdictions that hinder cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in detaining illegal immigrants.

Both states had enacted legislation called “Trust Acts,” allowing local law enforcement to ignore ICE’s requests to detain certain illegal immigrants in custody. However, the legislation maintains that an illegal immigrant would be detained if the individual had a criminal past.

Connecticut honors ICE detainers if an individual is a gang member, convicted of a felony, or is under pending charges, among other things. Since early February, local law enforcement in Connecticut “will not enforce ICE Detainer Requests solely on the basis of a final order of removal, unless accompanied by a judicial warrant, or past criminal conviction, unless the conviction is for a violent felony,” according to a Weekly Declined Detainer Outcome report by ICE.

Connecticut Dept of Children and Families: Believing There Are Only 2 Genders is 'Genderism'

Democrat Owned State.
weaselzippers

And believing in unicorns and 31 different genders doesn't make them real…

Via Daily Caller:

According the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF), which published an LGBT glossary of more than 250 terms, the belief that there are only two genders — male and female — should be treated as “genderism.”

The guide, which was published as part of the DCF’s Safe Harbors Project and was last updated July 7, defines “genderism” as: “The system of belief that there are only two genders (men and women) and that gender is inherently tied to one’s sex assigned at birth. It holds cisgender people as superior to transgender people, and punishes or excludes those who don’t conform to society’s expectations of gender.”

“Gender oppression,” according to the heavily-Democratic state, is “The societal, institutional, and individual beliefs and practices that privilege cisgender (gender-typical people) and subordinate and disparage transgender or gender variant people. Also known as ‘genderism.'”

And how do the people of Connecticut feel about their Political Overlords?

Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy, whose state has experienced job losses to neighboring Massachusetts, is the second-least popular governor in the country and the least popular Democrat. His approval is 29 percent, while 64 percent of voters in the Nutmeg State disapprove of his performance.

Connecticut ObamaCare Co-Op Placed Under State Supervision, Will Shut Down Next Year

HotAir
POSTED AT 7:41 PM ON JULY 5, 2016 BY JOHN SEXTON

Another Obamacare co-op is being shut down by state regulators. HealthyCT will become the 14th co-op out of the original 23 to fail. The co-op will continue to insure current customers until next summer but it can not add any new customers or renew current ones. CNBC reports:

Connecticut’s financially “unstable” Obamacare health-insurance co-op was placed under state supervision on Tuesday, as regulators said 40,000 people covered by the company will ultimately have to find new plans for the coming year…

Until last week, the nonprofit HealthyCT had “adequate capital and sustainable liquidity” — but that fell apart Thursday with a federal requirement that hit HealthyCT with a $13.4 million bill, according to the Connecticut Insurance Department.

The co-op only learned last Thursday that it would be required to make the $13 million payment to the government. The Hartford Courant reports:

HealthyCT, whose motto is — “Plans for People. Not for Profit.” — just learned Thursday it had to pay $13.4 million to the federal government because of the risk adjustment rules that are part of the complex Obamacare system.

Under risk adjustment, plans that cover more healthy people have to send money back to the government, which is then redistributed to other plans that have a sicker population.

That payment, [Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Katharine L.] Wade said Tuesday, seriously jeopardizes the nonprofit’s financial health.

Healthy CT insures about 13,000 individual customers through the Obamacare exchange. It also covered another 27,000 through employer plans. Since current customers are not able to renew with Healthy CT, they will be required to find a new insurance plan in the next open enrollment period. Next year, once it completes its business with all currently enrolled customers, the insurer’s 72 employees will be out of work.

A statement on the Connecticut Insurance Department’s website says there is the possibility of an abatement of the state supervision, but the Department warns customers not to expectsaying, “Given what we do know as of July 2016, however, it is recommended that group and individual insureds, medical providers and others not count on a near-term change in circumstances which would justify an abatement of the Order.”

Healthy CT is just the latest co-op to shut down under similar circumstances. In May a co-op in Ohio was liquidated by that state’s insurance regulators. Prior to that, co-ops in Arizona,Utah, South Carolina, Colorado, Iowa/Nebraska,Louisiana, Michigan, New York, Nevada, Tennessee, Oregon, and Kentucky have closed.

Thank You Mr Sexton and Hot Air.

Tolerance & Diversity Thought Police: Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury CT Bans Conservative Website Redstate

54° 40′ Or Fight! has the simultaneously flattering, and creepy, details: we’re going to address this in more detail later, but suffice it to say that some progressive goodthinker at the Nonnewaug High School system decided to block conservative sites – including this one! – while leaving liberal ones up and running. ‘Hate speech,’ don’t you know.  Which is really awkward, given that the school is blocking the state Republican party while letting the state Democratic party through.
And that will undoubtedly come as a bit of a shock to state Representative (and Assistant Leader) Sean J Williams and state Senator (and Deputy Minority Leader) Robert Kane, who both simultaneously represent this particular area and who happen to be members of the Connecticut Republican party.  Far be it from me to give advice to legislators…
:pause:
HA!
…but I think that someone needs to look into this, methinks.  Because while selectively blocking websites may be perversely flattering, it’s also creepy as all get-out.  And, frankly, not something that a school system should have any kind of anonymous say over.

Thank You Mr Lane and Redstate.

How much farther does this have to go before America stands up on its hind feet and votes the Constitution over Free Stuff?

Conn High School Blocks Students From Viewing Conservative Websites, NO BLOCK ON LIBERAL SITES

Via Fox CT:
A Woodbury High Schooler claims he uncovered political bias in the implementation of a firewall blocking some political Web sites at his school.
18-year-old Andrew Lampart, a senior at Nonnewaug High School, said he made the discovery when he was doing research for a classroom debate on gun control in May. Lampart said he first noticed that he could not get on the web site for the National Rifle Association.
“So, I went over to the other side. And I went over on sites such as Moms Demand Action or Newtown Action Alliance and I could get on these Web sites but not the others,” Lampart said.
Lampart investigated further, by broadening his search terms to Connecticut’s political parties.
“I immediately found out that the State Democrat web site was unblocked but the State GOP web site was blocked.”
Lampart even looked at Web sites focusing on abortion issues and religion. He found that “right-to-life” groups were blocked by the public school firewall but that Planned Parenthood and Pro-Choice America were not. He also tried to get on web sites such as Christianity.com and the Vatican’s web site but both were blocked. Islam-guide.com he found, was not.
“They’re trying to, in my opinion, shelter us from what’s actually going on around the country and around the world by blocking these web sites. It should be the other way around. The web sites should be unblocked so that students can get different viewpoints from different sides of each argument,” Lampart said.

Thank You FoxCT and Zip.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT): Congress Morally Justified In Forcing Americans To Violate Their Religious Beliefs

CNSNews;
Sen. Murphy: Congress Morally Justified In Forcing Americans To Violate Their Religious Beliefs
September 19, 2013 - 1:38 PM

(CNSNews.com) - Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said that it would be morally justifiable for Congress to pass a continuing resolution that forces Americans to buy health care plans covering abortion-inducing drugs even if doing so violates their religious beliefs.
CNSNews.com asked Murphy about funding the controversial provision in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, following a press conference on Capitol Hill Wednesday.
CNSNEWS: "As implemented the Affordable Care Act, Obamacare, is forcing Christian individuals and business owners to purchase health plans that cover abortion-inducing drugs. Now as a result, people are going to be able to use those federal subsidies to buy plans that pay for abortions. Do you believe, Senator, you're going to be morally justified in voting, through the next continuing resolution, to give the administration more money to do those things?"
SEN. MURPHY: “Yes.”
[Ed; Watch Senator Murphy on Video at CNS]
According to the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, over 200 plaintiffs are challenging the implementation of Obamacare in court on the grounds that it violates Americans' First Amendment rights by requiring them to purchase health care plans that cover sterilization, contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs even if they are morally opposed.
Thank You Mr. Beattie, and CNS.

This is what happens when we elect people who believe Govt. (meaning themselves) to be an authority superior to the Constitution.

CT Sen Chris Murphy Openly Admits Democrats Tricked Newtown Families So They Could Be Exploited To Pressure GOP On Gun Control

It just keeps getting more nauseating.

CT Sen Chris Murphy Openly Admits Democrats Tricked Newtown Families So They Could Be Exploited To Pressure GOP On Gun Control

This is truly revolting.
Washington DC (Ammoland.com) —  In the final push toward the Senate gun control vote on April 17 2013,Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) admitted Democrats were flying Newtown families into DC to break a Republican filibuster–he also admitted that those families did not know they were going to be used for that purpose until the plane carrying them was already in the air.
The families thought they were coming to DC to oppose “high capacity” magazines.  But according to The New York Times, once the families were in the air aboard Air Force One, Murphy let them know they would used “to get a vote on a vote.”
Here’s how Murphy put it:
They thought they were coming down here to argue for a ban on high capacity magazines and universal background checks, and we told them they coming to argue to avert a filibuster and allow us to debate. And that was really heartbreaking and deflating for some of them. But they rose to the occasion, and it was wonderful to see them at the end of the trip feeling like they had made a difference.
Thank You Zip and Ammoland.com

Never let an opportunity to stand on the bodies of dead children go to waste, and then Lie to their Families to USE Them, Eh Chris?
