Syria: Russia's "Carrier Killer" Moskva Enters Mediterranean

So much for the brilliance of Obama's Saber Rattling, . . . on behalf of Terrorists.

weaselzippers;
Russia's "Carrier-Killer" Moskva Enters Mediterranean

Oddly, Putin didn’t mention this in his NY Times op-ed.

Via RT:
Russia’s Moskva missile cruiser, dubbed a “carrier-killer” by NATO, has passed through the Straits of Gibraltar and is now heading toward the eastern Mediterranean to assume command of the Russian naval force there.
The Russian Navy said in a statement that the Moskva cruiser passed through the Straits of Gibraltar on September 10.
Interfax news agency added that the Moskva cruiser, “commanded by Sergey Tronev, Captain 1st Rank of the Guards… has enough room for maneuver now.”
“The Black Sea flagship entered the Russian Navy’s area of responsibility in the Mediterranean at 11:00 pm Moscow time yesterday,” the agency reported a military source as saying.
The missile-carrying cruiser is expected to join its final destination in eastern Mediterranean on September 15 or 16.
Upon arrival, the command of the Russian Navy unit in the Mediterranean, currently stationed onboard the Admiral Panteleyev anti-submarine ship, will be relocated to the Moskva.

Climate Change Fanatics Blame War In Syria On Global Warming, Heh, . . .

weaselzippers;
William Polk, an ex-US State Department advisor, has written a meticulously detailed account of the genesis of the conflict over at The Atlantic…”Syria has been convulsed by civil war since climate change came to Syria with a vengeance,” Polk writes. ”Drought devastated the country from 2006 to 2011. Rainfall in most of the country fell below eight inches (20 cm) a year, the absolute minimum needed to sustain un-irrigated farming. Desperate for water, farmers began to tap aquifers with tens of thousands of new well.  But, as they did, the water table quickly dropped to a level below which their pumps could lift it.”  – So this is our mess too. We’re still cranking away at the carbon pump, and no nation is as culpable as the United States—and as long as we do, we’ll be at least in some small part, responsible for the starving, rioting masses all the way across the globe. If we’re so dead set on intervention, maybe we should be focusing less on missiles and more on clean energy.
Thank You Climate Depot and Zip.

And with God as our witness Some Govt. Charlatan with a family financial interest in a construction co. that builds multi billion dollar irrigation systems will try and probably succeed in screwing the American people out More Money we Don't Have to "Bring Peace To the Middle East" by alleviating the suffering and misery underlying this War which is Caused by Global Warming.

Middle East Presidential Hypocrisy: Obama "Vetoed" Israeli Strike On Iran in 2012, but Syria's Different, WTF?

weaselzippers;
Report: Obama "Vetoed" Israeli Strike On Iran In 2012

Via WFB:
President Barack Obama refused to let Israel strike Iran last year despite the Israeli prime minister’s willingness to sign off on such an attack, according to statements made by a former top Israeli military leader earlier this week.
Giora Eiland, a former national security adviser to the Israeli government and a retired Major General in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), told the Israeli press that Obama “vetoed” the strike, which was planned to take place at the height of the 2012 election cycle.
“Israel has the capability to destroy the Iranian nuclear program” and was prepared to do so, Eiland was quoted as saying in a private meeting earlier this month, according to the Israeli paper Mida.
However, top White House officials “pressured” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to cancel the attack on Iranian nuclear sites, according to Eiland.

Woman On Whose Opinion Kerry and McCain Rely About "Moderate" Nature of Rebels, Is PAID Advocate For Rebels

weaselzippers;
Woman On Whose Opinion Kerry and McCain Rely About "Moderate" Nature of Rebels, Is PAID Advocate For Rebels

Not surprising, most of what they are relying on made up out of whole-cloth.
NEW YORK — A Wall Street Journal op-ed cited this week by both Secretary of State John Kerry and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has drawn scrutiny for not disclosing writer Elizabeth O’Bagy’s ties to a Syrian rebel advocacy group.
On Thursday, The Daily Caller examined O’Bagy’s role as political director for the Syria Emergency Task Force, a group that has lobbied the White House and Congress to support the rebels. O’Bagy told The Daily Caller that she is not a salaried employee, but serves as a paid contractor.
Journalist Laura Rozen questioned Friday why the Journal op-ed — which was published a week ago online and in Saturday’s print edition — did not identify O’Bagy’s affiliation with the group.
The Huffington Post contacted the Journal on Friday and was told the paper would not comment on op-ed’s lack of disclosure. But shortly thereafter, a clarification was added to the piece: “In addition to her role at the Institute for the Study of War, Ms. O’Bagy is affiliated with the Syrian Emergency Task Force, a nonprofit operating as a 501(c)(3) pending IRS approval that subcontracts with the U.S. and British governments to provide aid to the Syrian opposition.”
O’Bagy, a senior analyst for the Institute for the Study of War who has traveled extensively with rebel forces, wrote in the op-ed that “contrary to many media accounts, the war in Syria is not being waged entirely, or even predominantly, by dangerous Islamists and al Qaeda die-hards.”
Both Kerry and McCain noted O’Bagy’s findings in addressing Congress’ concerns over whether the Syrian rebels can be trusted.

Thank You Huff Post and Zip. Ain't it wonderful to know that These Alleged People are the 'Mentally Healthy' who keep getting our families, friends and neighbors crippled and killed in their Foreign Adventurings for Political Advantage?

Pelosi: "Obama Doesn't Need Authorization From Congress" To Attack Syria

[Ed; Oh Yes he Does, but that probably won't even faze the Dictatorial Martinet]

The Bush-era Nancy Pelosi begs to differ.
Via TIME:
“I was encouraging consultation. I did not believe that the President needs to get authorization from Congress. I think that it is great that he asked for it. I think that it strengthens his hand, and our country’s hand, and our moral standing to Bashar Assad to have Congress support it. But it’s a challenge for the reasons you mentioned. It’s a challenge because the country is weary of war. This is a president who has taken us out of two wars. He has unwound the Iraq War and now the Afghanistan War. He knows, as Commander-in-chief, better than anybody how weary of war our country is.”

Thank You Time and Zip.

Congressional Black Caucus Ordered Not To Criticize Obama On Syria "Limit Public Comment"

weaselzippers;
Congressional Black Caucus Ordered Not To Criticize Obama On Syria "Limit Public Comment"

Like good lap dogs, they will comply.
Via The Cable:
As an increasing number of African-American lawmakers voice dissent over the Obama administration’s war plans in Syria, the chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) has asked members to “limit public comment” on the issue until they are briefed by senior administration officials.
A congressional aide to a CBC member called the request “eyebrow-raising,” in an interview with The Cable, and said the request was designed to quiet dissent while shoring up support for President Obama’s Syria strategy.
The CBC, a crucial bloc of more than 40 votes the White House likely needs to authorize a military strike in Syria, is scheduled to be briefed by White House National Security Advisor Susan Rice on Monday. Until then, CBC chairwoman Marcia Fudge has asked colleagues to “limit public comment until [they] receive additional details,” Fudge spokeswoman Ayofemi Kirby told The Cable.
When asked if the White House requested the partial gag order, National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden said “the Administration is reaching out to all Members to ensure they have the information they need to make an informed judgment on this issue.” Kirby said it was her boss’s request and was aimed at keeping members informed rather than silencing anti-war members.

If these people really Gave a S**t about Black Americans, they'd put a stop to This:

National Institute of Mental Health: Violence Initiative: Junk Medicine In Jackboots

which is a Prime Factor in the Incarceration of such a huge percentage of young black men in America today.

On Syria, we even get a straight answer from Rep. Charlie Rangel.

When asked if his constituents had any appetite for a war with Syria, Rangel replied bluntly. "In answer to your question: Hell no."

Rangel must be envisioning the shit storm He'll encounter when His constituents begin coming back from Syria in body bags.

ABC News House Whip Count On Syria Support/Likely Support 45, Oppose/Likely Oppose 199

weaselzippers;
ABC News House Whip Count On Syria Support/Likely Support 45, Oppose/Likely Oppose 199

In other words, this thing has zero chance of passing the House. I wouldn’t be surprised if it passes the Senate and Obama attacks before the House has a chance to vote against it.
Via ABC News:
The ABC News political unit has put together a “whip count” of how members of the U.S. House of Representatives are likely to vote on the Syria resolution with assistance from the BBC Washington bureau. The count is based on public statements, interviews with aides, and reporting — it could change. ABC News will continue to update this list as new information becomes available.
OPPOSE MILITARY ACTION IN SYRIA: 63
LIKELY TO OPPOSE: 136
SUPPORT MILITARY ACTION IN SYRIA: 20
LIKELY TO SUPPORT: 25
UNDECIDED: 153
UNKNOWN: 36
Thank You ABC and Zip.

With the disconnect in the Senate, it's a wonder they don't just shuck the pretense and start showing up for work wearing purple togas.

Syria: An ObamaCare Diversion, Report: Securing Syrian Chemical Weapons Would Take 75,000 Ground Troops

The Timing of this Syria thing is particularly disturbing. If the Republicans don't muster the party unity needed to Refuse to Fund ObamaCare, in just 25 days it's going to settle upon America's neck like a swarm of sabre-toothed, malarial mosquitoes.

Now all of a sudden we're expected to believe that Bashir Al-Assad for No reason whatsoever, other than knowingly provoking a possible Obama strike upon his regime's assets which is The Story currently taking up a Lot of ink in the press, has used chemical weapons he didn't need to use, in a civil war he was clearly winning.

Democrats who gave GW Bush nothing but guff over his Iraq invasion are now marshaling behind Obama to attack Syria.

But we Must Intervene Militarily for The Children™, and our Cruise Missiles are not actually Weapons of War. They're Love Weapons which are all programmed to not kill anymore of "The Children™".

We're smelling something here, and it smells like Start another War as a Distraction to sneak through a Stinker of a piece of Nation Wrecking Legislation that the American people have already overwhelmingly rejected.

The Admin explanation is the Cruise Missiles can degrade Assad's chemical weapons without starting a war.

So here's the quietus to That one from Ms Katie Pavlich.

Townhall;
Katie Pavlich | Sep 05, 2013

During a hearing in front of the House Foreign Relations Committee Thursday, Secretary of State John Kerry suggested the United States would eventually need to put boots on the ground in Syria in order to secure stockpiles of chemical weapons. When pressed on the issue, Kerry quickly walked back the troops on the ground option and stated he was simply "thinking out loud" when he made the statement. A resolution passed by the Senate Armed Service Committee yesterday, leaving wiggle room for troops to be eventually placed on the ground in Syria.
Now, the Daily Mail is reporting the Pentagon knew a year ago that in order to effectively secure chemical weapons, at least 75,000 ground troops would need to be deployed.
Securing Syria's chemical weapons stockpiles and the facilities that produced them would likely require the U.S. to send more than 75,000 ground troops into the Middle Eastern country, MailOnline learned Wednesday.

That estimate comes from a secret memorandum the U.S. Department of Defense prepared for President Obama in early 2012.

U.S. Central Command arrived at the figure of 75,000 ground troops as part of a written series of military options for dealing with Bashar al-Assad more than 18 months ago, long before the U.S. confirmed internally that the Syrian dictator was using the weapons against rebel factions within his borders.

'The report exists, and it was prepared at the request of the National Security Advisor's staff,' a Department of Defense official with knowledge of the inquiry told MailOnline Wednesday on condition of anonymity.

'DoD spent lots of time and resources on it. Everyone understood that this wasn't a pointless exercise, and that eventually we would be tasked with going and getting the VX and sarin, so there was lots of due diligence.'

For some perspective, at the beginning of the Iraq war in 2003, just 63,000 troops were deployed.

So, what exactly is going to happen? President Obama has clearly indicated he's interested in a minor strike against Syria with no plan B should Bashir al-Assad be taken out of power. Senator John McCain wants to arm rebels in order to shift power away from Assad on the battlefield. Secretary of State John Kerry wants troops on the ground because realistically, that's the only way intervening in the civil war will be at least somewhat effective. He also wants the Saudis to bank roll for the whole thing.

The American people don't want intervention at all according to
multiple polls.
 photo Screenshot2013-09-05at21231PM_zps135782f0.png

The question now is this: What is the goal of the United States? To secure chemical weapons or to destroy them.

Thank You Ms. Pavlich and Townhall.

"What is the goal of the United States?"

The United States doesn't have a goal. The Obama Brigade does.

Create another distraction no matter how destructive it is in terms of loss of life and financial waste to expand and consolidate their hold on Power, and in this foreign misadventure cause a worsening of relations with Russia which will cause fallout for decades if Putin makes good on his threat to sell more of Russia's advanced Anti Aircraft hardware in the region.

ObamaCare, the parasite that just keeps on sucking.
