All of us have to thank Nancy Pelosi. She turned out to be not only the speaker of the House of Representatives, but also an excellent salesperson. Thanks to her ill conceived tricks, the advertisement of the annual presidential State of the Union (SOTU) address to the Congress reached unprecedented heights.
If earlier such traditional performances were simply routine, and only a few people outside Washington were interested, then this year, the situation (thanks to Pelosi) was significantly different. She invited Trump to speak on January 3, 2019, then "canceled" her invitation on January 16. Then the partial government shutdown ended, and the SOTU was rescheduled to February 5.
Pelosi's request for a cancelation of this traditional presidential address was an unprecedented and unheard of scandal, which ignores a hundred-year-old tradition. She was successful in postponing the presidential address, but that was a classic example of a Pyrrhic victory (hat tip: Ronald Cherry). Trump could have used this opportunity for his advantage. He talked about the economy, record low unemployment numbers, legal immigration, and foreign policy. What he spent less time on than he should have is the State of Illegalia.
Unfortunately, most Americans are not aware of such a state. No, it is not the 51st state in the Union; instead, it is a satellite substate within every legitimate state of the Union.
For example, in the state of California alone, there are about 1.2 million children born out of "tourism" of pregnant illegal aliens. These are official hospital data. For comparison, the population of the legitimate state of Wyoming is about 600,000 people.
That is, inside the state of California, there is a substate — the State of Illegalia — whose population is twice the state of Wyoming.
California's State of Illegalia is not alone. All states of the Union contain within them, hidden from prying eyes, substates of Illegalia. In Illinois, there are 174,000 illegal children. For comparison, the popular among legal immigrants Chicago North Shore area contains just half of Illegalia's population — 86,000. In the state of New York, there are 224,000 such children. For comparison, only 36,000 people live in the popular among legal immigrants Brighton Beach area of New York City.
This confrontation is obviously a losing matter for the Democrats. They openly position themselves as a party that protects illegal aliens and distance themselves from the protection of American citizens. Pelosi did not want to give Trump the podium, which he could and did use to once again turn to the common sense of the American people. Whenever Trump speaks, he speaks directly to American citizens, and not through the filter of mass disinformation media.
After the Democrats attempted to destroy a hundred-year-old tradition, Trump could have made some unconventional moves, too. In order to emphasize this talk about the States of Illegalia, he could have invited some non-traditional guests to the SOTU address.
The composition of these guests would be the main headache of the Democrats.
Imagine guest seats filled with parents of those American children who were killed by the citizens of the State of Illegalia — by illegal aliens. Some of them were murdered directly, and some indirectly — with the help of drugs transported across the border with Mexico in tons.
Also, several crying 15-year-old girls from South America could be invited, who were secretly brought by human-traffickers across the southern border for underground brothels in the State of Illegalia. Moreover, President Trump could end the tradition of the one-man-show and give the floor to them all in turn.
Trump could also give the floor to American doctors, who will tell the public what diseases they face in the states of Illegalia. Many of these diseases were practically eliminated in America soon after the Second World War — measles, scarlet fever, lice, tuberculosis, syphilis. However, these diseases are returning to America, and they are penetrating — initially through the open border with Mexico, and then through the States of Illegalia. Also, there are numerous cases of AIDS and hepatitis, plus widespread rape of women of all ages.
The U.S. Border Patrol guards would then be invited to the podium. They would bring with them a few rugs — the rugs Muslims use to pray. Recently, border guards have been finding more and more such rugs in the border zones of Arizona and Texas. Why should representatives of the "peaceful religion" get into America through the State of Illegalia? Why resort to such infiltration? What is the level of cooperation between sharia states and the State of Illegalia?
Trump could also go to extremes and order a baker's dozen handcuffed MS-13 gang members, with the most evil faces, entirely covered with scary tattoos, to be seated right next to Democrats' guests for the SOTU. These bandits — citizens of the State of Illegalia — could play an excellent backdrop to Trump's pitch for the country's sovereignty.
According to various estimates, American taxpayers spend from 110 to 260 billion dollars a year to support illegal aliens. This large discrepancy is due to exactly how to count, and who exactly counts. However, regardless of who makes the estimates and how, all calculations are one in one: the balance is negative. That is, illegal aliens receive more from American society than they give, at least 100 billion dollars a year. This number is the budget of the State of Illegalia.
The Democrats have long represented the interests of the states of Illegalia, and not the citizens of the states of the Union. We must hope that Pelosi will play her role to the end.

Daniel Greenfield
How the legalization of illegal migration and homelessness is leading to a new wave of disease outbreaks.

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism.
The media recently reported that Los Angeles County’s ongoing typhus epidemic had infected Deputy City Attorney Liz Greenwood.
"Who gets typhus? It's a medieval disease that's caused by trash,” she wondered.
Greenwood is partially correct. The typhus outbreak, like the hepatitis outbreak, was directly caused by social justice policies that legalized public vagrancy, and leaving trash and human waste on sidewalks. The piles of trash, human waste and people combine to create horrifying diseased conditions. Before Greenwood, many Los Angeles patients who had been diagnosed with typhus were indeed homeless.
"There are rats in City Hall and City Hall East," she complained. "There are enormous rats and their tails are as long as their bodies."
The rats are a problem, but the fleas that carry the virus that Greenwood has can live on a variety of animals, including stray cats and possums. That’s why the typhus outbreak isn’t just happening in Skid Row, but has spread to Long Beach and Pasadena. And while the homeless encampments act as incubators for the disease, it’s not the only social justice policy spreading disease across America.
Or at least in California and Texas.
“It’s never been considered a very common disease,” Peter Hotez, the dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, noted, “but we seem to see it more frequently. And it seems to be extending across from Southern California all along the Mexican border into southeastern Texas and then into the Gulf Coast in Florida.”
America never had much of a history of typhus, but Mexico did. And our brief episodes of typhus invariably involved immigrants and migrants carrying the disease from Europe or Mexico.
The first outbreak of the disease in this hemisphere occurred in Mexico back in the 17th century and there have been 22 major outbreaks since then, caused in part by refugees and crowded conditions. Typhus was so associated with Mexico that it was even known as Tabardillo or Mexican typhus fever. There was extensive debate as to whether Mexican typhus was different than European typhus.
The first case of typhus in southern California was linked to Mexican refugees.
Dr. L.M. Powers, a Los Angeles physician, was the first to spot it. "The first recognized and recorded cases of typhus fever in southern California occurred in the summer of 1916, when many Mexicans came to this section during a civil war in their own country," he wrote in a paper published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
The first victim of typhus had visited El Paso. Dr. Powers linked many other typhus cases in Los Angeles to Mexico. Historical records show that these cases involved migrants and Mexican railway workers.
In saner times, American authorities understood the problem and took common sense measures to fight the spread of the disease. The rise of typhus cases in California a century ago led to a campaign that included the delousing of anyone coming into the United States from certain parts of Mexico. Leftists have revisited this history in recent years to make obscene analogies to Holocaust gas chambers.
But despite the insistence that disinfection stations were motivated by racism, rather than real fear of the disease, the 67 typhus cases in El Paso make it very clear that there was a real problem.
El Paso’s efforts to keep out typhus were touched off by the death of Dr. W. C. Kluttz, who spotted the disease in the Mexican refugees that he was treating, before becoming infected and dying of it.
Dr. Kluttz was far from the only medical professional who lost his life to the disease. Dr. Howard Taylor Ricketts, the brilliant pathologist after whom Rickettsia, the genome that causes typhus is named, died while trying to isolate typhus in Mexico City at the request of the Mexican government.
At Dr. Kluttz's funeral, El Paso's Mayor Lea called for "a strong federally enforced quarantine here that would effectively stop the entrance into this country of disease-bearing persons from south of the Rio Grande."
The ambitious 2,000 mile quarantine ultimately proved to be a success, preventing Mexico’s typhus outbreaks from spreading into the United States. But it also claimed a toll with at least one inspector, David M. White, conducting disinfection procedures, contracting typhus and dying of the disease.
Illegal migrants seeking to bypass the quarantine however spread the disease in unlikely places.
A 1921 outbreak of typhus on a Navajo reservation was attributed to it being on a “pathway for itinerant laborers.” That particular outbreak appears to have killed 27 Navajo Indians.
The quarantine is history and typhus cases continue to rise in border states.
Texas saw a surge of typhus cases between 2008 and 2016. And the cases have been heavily concentrated in counties with high illegal populations. But officials insist on blaming ‘global warming’.
The number of typhus cases rose from 30 in 2003 to 519 in 2017. Hidalgo County had the highest incidence with 99 cases. Hidalgo County contains 6% of the state’s illegal alien population. Harris County has the second highest rate with 71 typhus cases and contains 24% of the state’s illegal alien population. Hidalgo has some of the youngest and newest illegal alien arrivals which may account for its high typhus infection rates.
Bexar County, with 59 typhus cases, the fourth highest rate of infections, hosts 4% of Texas illegals.
Typhus had fallen off the radar in the United States. It had been delisted by the CDC in 1994. And then it made a comeback in the middle nineties. Los Angeles saw a rise in the number of typhus cases in 1996 around the same time as futile efforts were being launched to fight the plague of illegal migration.
Now the situation has worsened. And it will only keep getting worse.
Like superstitious dark age types, leftists insist on blaming the typhus outbreaks on global warming, caused by an angry ‘Mother Earth’ rather than on the very real spread of disease by people. Instead of preventing the spread of disease, they insist that we must repent for our crimes against the environment, and recycle more, and then the earth will cool and the typhus outbreak will stop.
This denial of basic scientific facts is at the root of the typhus outbreak. Raising taxes in a bizarre scheme to change the weather is a bizarre folly that will do absolutely nothing to stop the spread of typhus.
The legalization of illegal migration and homelessness, is leading to a new wave of disease outbreaks.
Epidemiology shows us that typhus flares up in border counties and areas with large illegal alien populations. From there, it takes root in poor areas with bad hygiene. Fleas carried by rats, possums and cats can then pass on the disease to people who would have never expected to come down with it.
We know how to stop typhus. It begins with ending public vagrancy and illegal migration.
The Los Angeles Deputy City Attorney called typhus a “medieval disease”. Senator Kamala Harris of California ridiculed President Trump’s proposal for a border wall as “medieval”. California Rep. Harley Rouda urged Trump to “give up on the outdated notion of building a wall from medieval times.”
Rouda represents parts of Orange County. The O.C. had 15 typhus cases last year.
If you want to stop a medieval disease, you might want to start with a medieval wall.
Thank You Mr Greenfield and FPM.

Karma. Update to this story.
Via KTLA:
All carpets at Los Angeles City Hall may need to be
replaced amid a Typhus outbreak that may have infected one city employee
while at work, according to a motion filed by Council President Herb
Wesson on Wednesday.
Wesson first became aware of a vermin issue in November 2018,
contacted pest control experts and removed all his office’s carpets,
according to the motion.
The motion reported cleanup issues and a noticeable increase in
rodents in the area, which could have contributed to the outbreak.
Los Angeles county health officials first reported a Typhus outbreak
in downtown Los Angeles in October 2018, the year there were 142 Typhus
cases in Los Angeles County alone, according to a study by the
California Department of Public Health.
Typhus is a deadly bacterial disease that is typically transmitted through fleas that have been infected by rodents.
Symptoms include high fever, chills, headaches, muscle aches, rashes,
and in some severe cases, internal bleeding. The disease can be treated
with antibiotics, according to the California Department of Public
Health.
Wesson’s motion asks for a report on the scope of vermin and pest
control issues at City Hall, and instructs city staff to report back
with a cost estimate for removing all carpets in the building and an
assessment of all live plants in any city building.
Mayor Eric Garcetti’s office issued a statement saying that multiple
city departments began a coordinated effort to improve cleanliness in
Civic Center last fall.
“In addition to increased trash collection and cleanings, aggressive
action has been taken to address pests both in the buildings and in the
surrounding outside areas,” the statement said.
On Thursday, city workers were seen power-washing the sidewalk
outside City Hall, cleaning up piles of trash and filling in rat burrows
in the surrounding area.
An email was sent out to all city employees telling them not to leave
food out in their work area and to take out the trash daily.

Far more than trade is involved.
February 4, 2019
My previous article
for FrontPage Magazine focused on specific threats to the United States
that were linked to border security issues raised in the January 29,
2019 Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Worldwide Threats that was itself predicated on the Intelligence Community’s just-released World-Wide Threat Assessment.
I used the information disclosed at the hearing and contained in that
threat assessment report about the dangers to America created by
transnational criminal organizations and translational gangs such as
MS-13 and the drug cartels in Mexico, as well as the crimes and
activities of human traffickers that support the Trump administration’s
demands for a border wall, a wall that unbelievably, the leaders of the
Democratic Party adamantly oppose.
However, the report
included much more material about other global threats that confront the
United States and its interests. Simply stated, the world is a
dangerous place.
Among the other threats addressed in the report were those posed by China, Russia, Iran and North Korea.
Today we will take a hard look at China and how its aggressive and relentless pursuit of global dominance threatens America.
Before we go any further, we must remember that China is led by a
totalitarian Communist regime that is not an ally but rather a serious
adversary of the United States.
President Trump is the first
American President in decades to take a strong position against Chinese
transgressions against the United States where trade, currency
manipulation and espionage are concerned.
China has moved
swiftly to consolidate its stranglehold on its own citizens by
politically eliminating presidential term limits and exploiting ever
more sophisticated technological tools such as social media, facial
recognition technology, and other such hi-tech means.
On January 13, 2019 CBS News’ 60 Minutes aired a report
on the developments in artificial intelligence (AI) brought about by
venture capitalist Kai-Fu Lee’s investments and China's effort to
dominate the AI field.
There is no shortage of specific
examples of Chinese espionage committed against the United States and
U.S. companies. Such espionage has become so routine and commonplace
that the U.S intelligence services have come to refer to this as
“Chinese Take-Out"!
Frequently Chinese citizens who acquire
lawful immigrant status and United States citizenship use that status to
facilitate espionage against America and American companies.
To cite a recent example, on December 21, 2018 the Justice Department issued a press release, Chinese National Charged with Committing Theft of Trade Secrets that began with the following statement:
Hongjin Tan, a 35 year old Chinese national and U.S. legal permanent
resident, was arrested on Dec. 20 and charged with theft of trade
secrets. Tan is alleged to have stolen the trade secrets from his
employer, a U.S. petroleum company.
The announcement was
made by Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers,
U.S. Attorney Trent Shores for the Northern District of Oklahoma, and
Special Agent in Charge Kathryn Peterson of the FBI Oklahoma City Field
Office.
“Hongjin Tan allegedly stole trade secrets related
to a product worth more than $1 billion from his U.S.-based petroleum
company employer, to use for the benefit of a Chinese company where he
was offered employment,” said Assistant Attorney General Demers. “The
theft of intellectual property harms American companies and American
workers. As our recent cases show, all too often these thefts involve
the Chinese government or Chinese companies. The Department recently
launched an initiative to protect our economy from such illegal
practices emanating from China, and we continue to make this a top
priority.”
On January 28, 2019 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a press release, Chinese telecommunications conglomerate Huawei and Huawei CFO Wanzhou Meng charged with financial fraud.
On that same day, January 28th, the Justice Department issued a press release about the same investigation, Chinese
Telecommunications Device Manufacturer and its U.S. Affiliate Indicted
for Theft of Trade Secrets, Wire Fraud, and Obstruction Of Justice
/Huawei Corporate Entities Conspired to Steal Trade Secret Technology
and Offered Bonus to Workers who Stole Confidential Information from
Companies Around the World.
The DOJ press release also included a link to the ten count indictment.
Besides imposing tariffs against Chinese imports, President Trump
has also imposed restrictions on Chinese students who are studying in
the United States. This was the focus of my article, "Trump Administration Restricts Chinese Students - Finally, America confronts a massive espionage operation."
This is a welcome change by the administration to protect America and
Americans. I have written several articles about Chinese espionage and
belligerence and how, for decades, our universities have been training
foreign students who seek to exploit our educational system to further
the goals and agendas of America’s adversaries, including hundreds of
thousands of Chinese STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and
Mathematics) students who, as they acquire first-rate education in the
United States, have been able to work for American companies under the
auspices of Optional Practical Training
that enables foreign students to apply their training and education in
real world jobs for American companies in the United States. This
program has facilitated Chinese espionage against American companies
including ones that have military contracts.
These
long-overdue efforts of the Trump administration should be cheered and
supported by all Americans and even American allies around the world who
should take similar actions.
Three of my relatively recent articles highlight China’s massive espionage campaign against the United States:
Chinese Citizen Arrested By FBI For Spying On U.S. - A case that highlights the nexus between immigration and espionage.
China Ratchets Up Its U.S. Spying Programs: American Universities and financial institutions are at risk.
Educating America’s Adversaries: China’s engineers are building China’s military. Who taught them?
When American companies, in a quest for cheap labor and reduced
regulation, have set up factories in China, China has seized the
opportunity to engage in industrial espionage against those companies
proving that sometimes short-term savings cost more, often much more, in
the end.
In some instances, American companies have
voluntarily cooperated with China’s totalitarian regime. For example,
Google has been enlisted by the Chinese government to help crack down on
civil liberties in China against its own citizens even as Google
actively and aggressively opposes any efforts by the U.S. government to
protect America and Americans from the threat of international
terrorists.
My recent article "Google vs Border Security" referenced an article published by The Intercept, titled, “Google Plans To Launch Censored Search Engine In China, Leaked Documents Reveal.”
Eager to do lucrative business in China, Google was willing to “go
along to get along” while its dealing with the U.S. government went in
precisely the opposite direction.
A September 21, 2018, Newsweek article, “Google
Brainstormed Ways To Combat Trump's Travel Ban By Leveraging Search
Results For Pro-Immigration Causes,” included the following excerpt: "Google,
along with Apple, Facebook and other technology companies, filed a
joint amicus brief challenging the travel ban, stating that it “inflicts
significant harm on American business, innovation and growth."
Now let’s turn to the Threat Assessment. Consider this excerpt that is found on pages 24 and 25:
China
The Chinese Communist Party’s Concentration of Power
China is deepening its authoritarian turn under President Xi Jinping,
and the resulting hardening of Chinese politics and governance probably
will make it more difficult for the leadership to recognize and correct
policy errors, including in relations with the United States and our
allies and partners.
President Xi removed one of the few
remaining checks on his authority when he eliminated presidential term
limits in March 2018, and the Chinese Communist Party has reasserted
control over the economy and society, tightened legal and media
controls, marginalized independent voices, and intensified repression of
Chinese Muslims, Christians, and other religious minorities.
The Chinese Government also is harnessing technology, including facial
recognition, biometrics, and vehicle GPS tracking, to bolster its
apparatus of domestic monitoring and control.
Beijing’s
increasing restrictions on scholars’ and researchers’ freedom of
movement and communication with US counterparts may increase the
prospects for misunderstanding and misinterpretation of US policies.
Universities in the United States have been willing to accept Chinese
demands for changes in curricula in exchange for funding from China. On
January 17, 2018 Politico published a report, How China Infiltrated U.S. Classrooms that begins with this passage:
Last year, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte made an
announcement to great fanfare: The university would soon open a branch
of the Confucius Institute, the Chinese government-funded educational
institutions that teach Chinese language, culture and history. The
Confucius Institute would “help students be better equipped to succeed
in an increasingly globalized world,” says Nancy Gutierrez, UNC
Charlotte’s dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and
“broaden the University’s outreach and support for language instruction
and cultural opportunities in the Charlotte community,” according to a
press release.
But the Confucius Institutes’ goals are a
little less wholesome and edifying than they sound—and this is by the
Chinese government’s own account. A 2011 speech by a standing member of
the Politburo in Beijing laid out the case: “The Confucius Institute is
an appealing brand for expanding our culture abroad,” Li Changchun said.
“It has made an important contribution toward improving our soft power.
The ‘Confucius’ brand has a natural attractiveness. Using the excuse of
teaching Chinese language, everything looks reasonable and logical.”
Li, it now seems, was right to exult. More than a decade after they
were created, Confucius Institutes have sprouted up at more than 500
college campuses worldwide, with more than 100 of them in the United
States—including at The George Washington University, the University of
Michigan and the University of Iowa. Overseen by a branch of the Chinese
Ministry of Education known colloquially as Hanban, the institutes are
part of a broader propaganda initiative that the Chinese government is
pumping an estimated $10 billion into annually, and they have only been
bolstered by growing interest in China among American college students.
Yet along with their growth have come consistent questions about
whether the institutes belong on campuses that profess to promote free
inquiry. Confucius Institutes teach a very particular, Beijing-approved
version of Chinese culture and history: one that ignores concerns over
human rights, for example, and teaches that Taiwan and Tibet
indisputably belong to Mainland China. Take it from the aforementioned
Li, who also said in 2009 that Confucius Institutes are an “important
part of China’s overseas propaganda set-up.” Critics also charge that
the centers have led to a climate of self-censorship on campuses that
play host to them.
Remarkably, even as Antifa
thugs and university administrations seek to block American
conservatives from providing their perspectives on college campuses
across the United States, Communist China’s outrageous propaganda is
embraced and welcomed on American college campuses.
Lenin has
been quoted as saying, “The capitalists will sell us the rope with which
we will hang them.” Today there is a fire sale on rope in America and
it must end. The sooner the better!
Thank You Mr Cutler and FPM.

The homelessness problem in San Francisco
has been one of the most well documented and written-about problems in
the United States of late, likely due to the paradoxical nature of how
much the state spends to help get these people off the street and how it
doesn't seem to have any impact.
According to Bloomberg,
the city approved a measure last year to raise an additional $300
million to tackle the issue by taxing local companies. By estimates,
there’s about 7500 homeless people in the city that are a result of
higher rent, substance-abuse and other health concerns, including mental
illness.
Now, one company is betting that streamlining this information could be the answer to the issue.
Officials in the city have spent a couple of years building a digital
program called ONE System that can track and monitor every homeless
person in San Francisco. The goal is to collect and sort information
about these people more effectively in order to determine who is in need
and assess risk factors. So far, after five months of the system being
in place, it has helped get 70 people off the streets.
One of the main reasons it hasn’t worked better? It’s difficult to persuade the homeless to sign into a program that, to them, feels like big brother.

The program was designed by BitFocus to collect data from state and city
agencies. Homeless participants are asked 17 questions in order to help
evaluate their time spent on the street, health and vulnerability. That
information is then used to create a database, which acts as a digital
profile; in may ways it is similar to China's recently unveiled app which warns users if they are walking near someone in debt.
Jeff Kositsky, the director of the city’s department of homelessness and supportive housing, told Bloomberg:
"We’re trying to build what I think of as an air traffic control system", only instead of airplanes, the system tracks homeless people.
The program kicked off in August and the 50 employee, $5 million
effort was trying to assess more than 2000 people over 90 days. The
company has already spoken to double the amount of people it
anticipated, which gave them "a pretty good baseline of who’s the most
vulnerable in order to determine housing,” according to Chris Block, the
director of coordinated entry for Episcopal Community Services of San
Francisco.
But the obstacles continue to pile up.
City employees must gain the trust of the homeless person, learn
their information and persuade them to join the monitoring system, which
many don’t want to. For permanent housing, some members need to pass a
background check, which can take 45 days and requires an ID - which many
people on the street don’t have.
And the fact of the matter is that there isn't only one
answer for homelessness, due to the fact that people wind up on the
street for a multitude of reasons. Other questions have also been
raised: what happens if authorities find drug users or violent crime in
the tracking system? While now nobody claims that they want to use the
system for law-enforcement purposes, privacy concerns continue to grow.
Block said:
"There’s a lot of privacy concerns. So far those issues
haven’t been significant, but that doesn’t mean they won’t come up in
the future."
The system will be fully rolled out over the next few months and
already almost half of the city's homeless are part of it. As of
January, 20 people have been placed in permanent housing and 50 more
have been helped off the streets. The task in front of the city and the
ONE System, despite the small wins, is still massive. The goal is to try
and halve the city's homeless population by 2022.
Thank You Mr Durden and Zero Hedge.

And they say there's no such thing as poetic justice.
Los Angeles legalized homelessness and then subsidized it and spread it
around. The trash and waste bred rats, fleas and diseases.
And now, for the first time, it's coming home. Not to the homeowners and
business owners who have been living with this nightmare. But to Los
Angeles City Hall, which has its own homeless encampments.
A veteran Los Angeles City Hall official is one of the latest victims
of an epidemic of the infectious disease typhus that continues to
worsen across LA County.
For months, LA County public health officials have said typhus is mainly hitting the homeless population.
But Deputy City Attorney Liz Greenwood, a veteran prosecutor, tells
NBC4 she was diagnosed with typhus in November, after experiencing high
fevers and excruciating headaches.
"It felt like somebody
was driving railroad stakes through my eyes and out the back of my
neck," Greenwood told the I-Team. "Who gets typhus? It's a medieval
disease that's caused by trash."
To stop medieval diseases, use medieval technology. Like walls.
Or you could just institutionalize and treat crazy people instead of
setting them loose to assault random city residents and spread disease.
Greenwood believes she contracted typhus from fleas
in her office at City Hall East. Fleas often live on rats, which
congregate in the many heaps of trash that are visible across the city
of LA, and are a breeding ground for typhus.
"There are rats
in City Hall and City Hall East," Greenwood added. "There are enormous
rats and their tails are as long as their bodies."
Last year
set a new record for the number of typhus cases — 124 in LA County for
the year, according to the California Department of Public Health.
Last October, Mayor Garcetti vowed to clean up piles of garbage throughout the city to combat the typhus epidemic.
The Mayor allocated millions of dollars to increase clean-ups of
streets in the Skid Row area, known lately as "the typhus zone."
You can't clean up trash unless you stop people from generating it. It's what liberals like to call, the "Root Cause".
But four months later, the I-Team documented huge piles of garbage just outside the "typhus zone."
"You can't solve it (the typhus epidemic) until you hit the cause,"
says Estela Lopez of the Downtown Industrial Business Improvement
District, "and the cause of it is that you still have these mountains of
trash."
Added Greenwood: "This is a terrible illness and I
wouldn't wish this on anybody. But it's not just homeless folks getting
it."
Homeless "folks" get it and then spread it.
She believes the city should fumigate City Hall and City Hall East to
protect the thousands of workers and visitors who could be at risk from
getting typhus.
Responding to complaints from other city
workers fearful of getting typhus, LA has already fumigated LAPD’s
Central Division office and parts of the LAPD’s main headquarters.
Garcetti's office did not respond to NBC4's questions about why the city hasn't fully fumigated City Hall buildings as well.
Because no matter how often you fumigate, the progressives still keep coming back.
Thank You Mr Greenfield and FPM.

Nothing is good enough for leftists who treasure an insecure border.
President Donald J. Trump extended an olive branch to Democrats on the weekend, conceding much of their immigration policy agenda in a bold longshot bid to move forward with building a southern border wall and ending the nearly month-long partial government shutdown but left-wing lawmakers rejected his overture even before he addressed the nation on TV on Saturday.
Trump’s address came after a particularly frosty week in Washington.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) informed the president he would be unable to deliver a State of the Union Address in Congress because the money wasn’t there to provide security. Trump countered by canceling a decadent junket Pelosi and other fat cat lawmakers had been planning overseas. At the eleventh-hour, while lawmakers and their guests were en route to a military airport to fly away, the president deprived them of the use of U.S. military aircraft.
Anticipating Democrat criticism, Trump said on TV, “walls are not immoral,” adding that a wall “will save many lives and stop drugs from pouring into our country.”
“This is not a concrete structure from sea to sea,” he said. “These are steel barriers in high-priority locations.”
During his speech the president focused on the perils presented by an open border, saying it provided a “very wide and open gateway for criminals and gang members to enter the United States.”
But if Congress were to accept his proposals, more immigration reforms could follow, Trump suggested.
“If we are successful in this effort, we will have the best chance in a long time at real, bipartisan immigration reform, and it won’t stop here, it will keep going until we do it all.”
Although Democrat lawmakers have previously voted to build a wall on the nation’s porous multistate border with Mexico, they hate Trump with unbridled animosity and refuse to give him any kind of political victory, especially when it comes to immigration. Democrats benefit from a regular flow of illegal aliens into the country and view the lawbreaking foreigners as an important political constituency to be courted and cultivated.
Their arguments against building the wall have become increasingly irrational and bizarre in recent days. It is now common to hear overwrought left-wingers describe the proposed wall, which would keep illegal aliens out of the country, as “racist” and “white-nationalist.”
The GOP-controlled House of Representatives voted 217 to 185 on Dec. 20 for a spending bill with $5.7 billion for the wall. The measure floundered in the Senate and the partial shutdown got underway Dec. 22. The Senate remains in Republican hands but the House is now controlled by Democrats.
The president’s negotiations with Democrats over the approximately $5 billion needed to begin construction of the border wall have gone nowhere –Democrats childishly refuse to show up for meetings with Trump at the White House— and the federal government continues to be partially shut down for lack of appropriated funds. Although pressure on Trump has been growing, the president has vowed to keep the shutdown going as long as it takes to secure funding for the wall.
But on the weekend Trump backed away somewhat from his hardline no-wall-in-exchange-for-amnesty stance and agreed to policies some of his conservative critics like author Ann Coulter and political base view as betrayals.
Trump said in exchange for $5.7 billion in wall construction funds he would back a three-year extension of protections for 700,000 individuals who came to the U.S. unlawfully as children and were shielded from removal under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Under any conventional reading of the U.S. Constitution DACA is plainly unconstitutional –it was created by Obama’s presidential fiat— but courts have ordered the Trump administration to keep it in operation.
As part of the package, Trump would also support extending the protection period for 300,000 recipients of the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program. TPS prevents the deportation of individuals in the U.S. from designated countries deemed unsafe to return to.
Under the deal, another $800 million would be allocated for drug detection technology to secure ports of entry, according to a Fox News summary. Moreover, 2,750 new border agents and law enforcement professionals would be hired, along with 75 new immigration judges to cut through a large backlog of asylum requests.
Trump’s proposals, which could be included in legislation introduced in the U.S. Senate this week, were praised by prominent Republicans.
Trump’s plan for DACA recipients and individuals covered under the TPS program are similar to what has previously been proposed by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).
Graham hailed the plan as “fantastic” on Twitter Saturday.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) lauded Trump for what he termed a “bold solution” to re-open the partially shuttered U.S. government.
“Compromise in divided government means that everyone can’t get everything they want every time,” McConnell said. “The President’s proposal reflects that. It strikes a fair compromise by incorporating priorities from both sides of the aisle.”
Trump nemesis Mitt Romney, now the newly sworn-in junior GOP senator from Utah, praised the proposal.
“@POTUS has put forth a reasonable, good faith proposal that will reopen the government and help secure the border[,]” Romney wrote on Twitter. “I look forward to voting for it and will work to encourage my Republican and Democratic colleagues to do the same.”
Conservative talk radio host and Landmark Legal Foundation founder Mark R. Levin was enthusiastic about Trump’s new plan.
“I strongly support President Trump’s immigration proposal today[,]” he wrote on Twitter on the weekend. “[House Speaker Nancy] Pelosi & [Senate Minority Leader Chuck] Schumer rejected it even before the president spoke to the nation & made his proposal. They’re radical know-nothings.”
Pelosi rejected the Trump plan before the president took to the airwaves.
The package is a “compilation of several previously rejected initiatives, each of which is unacceptable and in total, do not represent a good-faith effort to restore certainty to people’s lives.”
“It is unlikely that any one of these provisions alone would pass the House, and taken together, they are a non-starter,” she said. “For one thing, this proposal does not include the permanent solution for the Dreamers and TPS recipients that our country needs and supports.”
Schumer accused Trump of continuing to put “forward one-sided and ineffective remedies.” He said Trump should re-open the government first and worry about his political agenda later.
“It was the president who singlehandedly took away DACA and TPS protections in the first place," Schumer said. “Offering some protections back in exchange for the wall is not a compromise, but more hostage taking.”
Democrats are fine with allowing the border crisis to fester. Instead of offering the $5.7 billion Trump says he needs, they have offered a measly $1.3 billion for border security in general.
The stalemate over border wall funding continues and the federal government continues to be partially closed.
Thank You FPM and Mr Vadum.
