All of us have to thank Nancy Pelosi. She turned out to be not only the speaker of the House of Representatives, but also an excellent salesperson. Thanks to her ill conceived tricks, the advertisement of the annual presidential State of the Union (SOTU) address to the Congress reached unprecedented heights.

If earlier such traditional performances were simply routine, and only a few people outside Washington were interested, then this year, the situation (thanks to Pelosi) was significantly different. She invited Trump to speak on January 3, 2019, then "canceled" her invitation on January 16. Then the partial government shutdown ended, and the SOTU was rescheduled to February 5.

Pelosi's request for a cancelation of this traditional presidential address was an unprecedented and unheard of scandal, which ignores a hundred-year-old tradition. She was successful in postponing the presidential address, but that was a classic example of a Pyrrhic victory (hat tip: Ronald Cherry). Trump could have used this opportunity for his advantage. He talked about the economy, record low unemployment numbers, legal immigration, and foreign policy. What he spent less time on than he should have is the State of Illegalia.

Unfortunately, most Americans are not aware of such a state. No, it is not the 51st state in the Union; instead, it is a satellite substate within every legitimate state of the Union.

For example, in the state of California alone, there are about 1.2 million children born out of "tourism" of pregnant illegal aliens. These are official hospital data. For comparison, the population of the legitimate state of Wyoming is about 600,000 people.

That is, inside the state of California, there is a substate — the State of Illegalia — whose population is twice the state of Wyoming.

California's State of Illegalia is not alone. All states of the Union contain within them, hidden from prying eyes, substates of Illegalia. In Illinois, there are 174,000 illegal children. For comparison, the popular among legal immigrants Chicago North Shore area contains just half of Illegalia's population — 86,000. In the state of New York, there are 224,000 such children. For comparison, only 36,000 people live in the popular among legal immigrants Brighton Beach area of New York City.

This confrontation is obviously a losing matter for the Democrats. They openly position themselves as a party that protects illegal aliens and distance themselves from the protection of American citizens. Pelosi did not want to give Trump the podium, which he could and did use to once again turn to the common sense of the American people. Whenever Trump speaks, he speaks directly to American citizens, and not through the filter of mass disinformation media.

After the Democrats attempted to destroy a hundred-year-old tradition, Trump could have made some unconventional moves, too. In order to emphasize this talk about the States of Illegalia, he could have invited some non-traditional guests to the SOTU address.

The composition of these guests would be the main headache of the Democrats.

Imagine guest seats filled with parents of those American children who were killed by the citizens of the State of Illegalia — by illegal aliens. Some of them were murdered directly, and some indirectly — with the help of drugs transported across the border with Mexico in tons.

Also, several crying 15-year-old girls from South America could be invited, who were secretly brought by human-traffickers across the southern border for underground brothels in the State of Illegalia. Moreover, President Trump could end the tradition of the one-man-show and give the floor to them all in turn.

Trump could also give the floor to American doctors, who will tell the public what diseases they face in the states of Illegalia. Many of these diseases were practically eliminated in America soon after the Second World War — measles, scarlet fever, lice, tuberculosis, syphilis. However, these diseases are returning to America, and they are penetrating — initially through the open border with Mexico, and then through the States of Illegalia. Also, there are numerous cases of AIDS and hepatitis, plus widespread rape of women of all ages.

The U.S. Border Patrol guards would then be invited to the podium. They would bring with them a few rugs — the rugs Muslims use to pray. Recently, border guards have been finding more and more such rugs in the border zones of Arizona and Texas. Why should representatives of the "peaceful religion" get into America through the State of Illegalia? Why resort to such infiltration? What is the level of cooperation between sharia states and the State of Illegalia?

Trump could also go to extremes and order a baker's dozen handcuffed MS-13 gang members, with the most evil faces, entirely covered with scary tattoos, to be seated right next to Democrats' guests for the SOTU. These bandits — citizens of the State of Illegalia — could play an excellent backdrop to Trump's pitch for the country's sovereignty.

According to various estimates, American taxpayers spend from 110 to 260 billion dollars a year to support illegal aliens. This large discrepancy is due to exactly how to count, and who exactly counts. However, regardless of who makes the estimates and how, all calculations are one in one: the balance is negative. That is, illegal aliens receive more from American society than they give, at least 100 billion dollars a year. This number is the budget of the State of Illegalia.

The Democrats have long represented the interests of the states of Illegalia, and not the citizens of the states of the Union. We must hope that Pelosi will play her role to the end.

Pelosi and House Democratic Leaders Condemn 'Anti-Semitic Comments' by Rep. Ilhan Omar

House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) joined other Democrat leaders Monday in signing and publishing a statement condemning controversial tweets posted Sunday by fellow Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).

As CNSNews.com reported, Rep. Omar had posted a pair of tweets insinuating that the pro-Israel lobby pays members of Congress to support Israel, upsetting critics ranging from the American Jewish Committee to Chelsea Clinton.

In a Monday tweet, Pelosi posted the joint statement and said that she had spoken with Rep. Omar and that the two had agreed to “move forward as we reject anti-Semitism in all its forms”:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who together with her husband owns a vineyard in the Napa Valley, went to the House floor on Wednesday to condemn the Republican majority for working against the interests of a person she called “Joe Sixpack” in order to cut taxes for “wealthy families” swigging champagne.

“Today, the Republicans take their victory lap for successfully pillaging the American middle class to benefit the powerful and the privileged. This holiday they are talking about giving people a Christmas present?” said Pelosi.

“Well, Joe Sixpack, whom the President said he was there to help, and I hope that that is true, Joe Sixpack will be delivering the champagne to their parties,” she said.

“That is how this is,” said Pelosi.

“This isn’t about anything better for working class families. This is about champagne glasses clinking in wealthy families across the country.”

Nancy Pelosi Struggling To Keep House Democrats In Line

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is increasingly struggling to keep Democrats in line and appears to be following her members on crucial issues rather than leading them.

On Wednesday, House Democrats introduced a motion to impeach President Trump, despite Pelosi’s insistence for months that Democrats hold off on pushing impeachment. Fifty-eight Democrats voted in favor of impeachment on Wednesday, despite Pelosi’s objections.

“Now is not the time to consider articles of impeachment,” Pelosi and Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer said in a joint statement.

Pelosi’s hesitance to push impeachment has put her at odds with left-wing activist groups who have been demanding Trump’s impeachment since before he was even sworn into office.

Democratic Michigan Rep. John Conyers’ resignation last Friday represented another victory for House Democrats who have bucked Pelosi’s authority.

Sworn affidavits signed by four of his former staffers describe Conyers, who resigned on Friday, as a serial sexual harasser who preyed on his female staffers and demanded sexual favors from them. Conyers also allegedly abused taxpayer resources to pursue sexual relationships with women.

Pelosi initially defended the 88-year-old Conyers as “an icon” and deferred to a House Ethics Committee investigation — a process that can stretch out for years.

It took Pelosi 10 days to call for the establishment Democrat’s resignation, which she did only after facing the prospect of a revolt from members furious over Conyers remaining in office. (RELATED: Democrat Accused Of Sexual Harassment: Pelosi Knew And Did Nothing About It)

The first two Democrats to demand Conyers’ resignation were New York Rep. Kathleen Rice — who has said for months that she thinks Pelosi should step down from her leadership position — and Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a first-term congresswoman.

Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan, who unsuccessfully challenged Pelosi for House Minority Leader last year, similarly pressured Democratic leadership, demanding last Wednesday that the investigation into Conyers finish up by the end of the week. That same day, Rice, a second-term congressman stormed out of a meeting with House Democrats about Conyers because she didn’t believe they were taking the matter seriously enough.

New York Rep. Joseph Crowley and California Rep. Linda Sanchez — chair and vice-chair of the House Democratic Caucus, respectively — took the opposite position that day, urging restraint and trying to draw the process out.

“I don’t know all the facts, I don’t know the specific allegations,” Sanchez said, adding that she “can’t sit and judge a member and call for their resignation unless I’ve been party to hearing all of the evidence and hearing the defense of the evidence.”

“Calling for the resignation of someone doesn’t actually create the resignation,” said Crowley, adding that he would wait for the ethics committee’s investigation.

The very next day, Pelosi, Crowley and Sanchez caved to their more junior colleagues and demanded Conyers’ resignation.

Hey, it’s not like he’s the President.

WASHINGTON — Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., delivered a message to President Trump on Monday morning about Congress’ sensitive negotiations over a spending bill that must pass by Friday.

That message: Butt out.

“It’s my view that if the president stepped out of it, we could get a budget done by Friday,” Schumer said on a conference call with reporters.

“Totally agree,” Pelosi said. “We were on the path to get it done until he did intervene.”

The government will run out of funding Friday night unless Congress comes to an agreement on a series of spending bills. The major sticking points are the billions of dollars the president has demanded to begin building a wall on the southern border, as well as Democrats’ demands for at least some of the billions of dollars Congress owes insurance companies under Obamacare.

Lawyers are known never to ask a question they don’t already know the answer to – and politicians should do the same if they want to spare themselves some embarrassment. Nancy Pelosi didn’t get that memo.

Despite all the ObamaCare horror stories we’ve heard since the day it took effect, whether it be people losing coverage, paying higher premiums, or seeing their deductibles skyrocket, Pelosi apparently was under the impression that once they passed the bill, people were happy to find out what was in it. They weren’t – which she learned when she tweeted out a request for people to tell their ObamaCare success stories, hoping she could use them as ammunition as ObamaCare’s repeal looms.

And these are hardly just anecdotes – it’s the majority of people’s experiences. The law is unpopular for a reason.

As HotAir reported back in September:


Currently, 29% of Americans say Obamacare has hurt them and their family, up from 26% in May, and the highest Gallup has measured to date. Meanwhile, the percentage who say the ACA has helped their family dropped from 22% to 18%. The bulk of Americans, 51%, continue to say the law has “had no effect.” As more provisions of the law have taken effect over the years, the “no effect” percentage has dropped from the first reading of 70%, in early 2012.

So, vastly more report being hurt by the law than helped. That was clearly reflected in response to Pelosi’s tweet, and it’s not hard to see why. While Barack Obama promised that his healthcare reform plan would reduce costs by $2,500 for the average family, they’re increased by more than that!



What leg have they left to stand on when it comes to defending ObamaCare when it didn’t do anything that it promised to do? That it insured millions of people who will lose insurance if the law is repealed? The overwhelming majority gained insurance through Medicaid, not through private insurance. According to the Daily Wire, “just over 14 million people gained coverage from the end of 2013 to the end of 2015. Of those 14 million, 11.8 million gained their insurance through Medicaid and 2.2 million through private coverage.”

In other words, it’s Medicaid they should be defending, not ObamaCare, if they’re worried about people losing coverage. As for those insured through private coverage, what’s the surprise there? That millions would sign up for insurance when the government made it illegal not to? Duh.

House minority leader Nancy Pelosi downplayed problems with the Democratic Party, saying that the party’s values “unify us.”

“I don’t think that people want a new direction,” Pelosi said on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday. “Our values are supporting working families. What we want is a better connection of our message to working families.”

Pelosi’s appearance came a few days after she was re-elected by Democrats to serve another term as House minority leader, beating back a challenge from Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio.

Host John Dickerson said that Democrats have been clobbered at every level since 2008, which Pelosi attributed to natural reactions to the party that holds the White House.

(CNSNews.com) - The federal debt has increased by $13,546,533,671,676.73 since Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California first became the Democratic leader in the House of Representatives on Jan. 3, 2003.

Since then, as the top Democrat in the House, Pelosi has served as either House Minority Leader or House Speaker. She first served as minority leader from Jan. 3, 2003 until Jan. 4, 2007, when she became speaker of the House. After the Democrats lost control of the House in the 2010 elections, she returned to her role as minority leader on Jan. 3, 2011. She has remained in that position since then.

At the close of business on Jan. 3, 2003, when Pelosi first became House minority leader, the federal debt was $6,382,650,489,675.40, according to the U.S. Treasury.

As of the close of business on Monday, Nov. 28, that latest day for which the data is available, the federal debt was $19,929,184,161,352.13.

House Democrats Re Elect Pelosi As Leader

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Democrats re-elected Nancy Pelosi as their leader Wednesday, ratifying the status quo in a changing Washington despite widespread frustration over the party's direction.

That disenchantment manifested itself in 63 lawmakers supporting Pelosi's opponent, Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan, in the secret-ballot vote. That was by far the largest defection Pelosi has suffered since she began leading House Democrats in 2002.

Still, the California lawmaker had declared ahead of time that more than two-thirds of the caucus was supporting her, and she won almost exactly two-thirds with 134 votes. It was a testament to her vote-counting skills and to her ability to hang onto power even in dark days for Democrats, as they confront a capital that will be fully controlled by the GOP next year.

Supporters said the 76-year-old Pelosi was their best bet to confront a President Donald Trump from a defensive crouch in the minority after Democrats' picked up only a half-dozen seats in the House, far fewer than anticipated. Republicans are on track to hold at least 240 seats in the House next year, while Democrats will have 194.

Pelosi herself, appearing elated after her victory, pledged that Democrats have won elections before and would do so again, even though they've been in the minority in the House since 2010.

"I have a special spring in my step today because this opportunity is a special one, to lead the House Democrats, bring everyone together as we go forward," Pelosi said.

Of Trump, she said: "Where we can engage, we will. Where we need to oppose, we will."

And Pelosi disputed the suggestion that she might be concerned about the defections she suffered. "They weren't defections, I had two-thirds of the vote," Pelosi said, repeating "two-thirds, two-thirds" to a group of assembled reporters.

For their part, Ryan and his backers insisted after the vote that they had won a victory in sending a message to Pelosi about the significant desire for change among House Democrats.

"Somebody had to do something," said Ryan, a seven-term lawmaker who before now had been largely a back-bencher. "Our prospects have improved just because of this conversation."

Yet Democrats' marginalized status was evident as Ryan struggled to answer a question about who would lead the party forward, before concluding: "We're all going to participate in leading the party."

Leadership elections were originally scheduled to be held before Thanksgiving but were delayed to give Democrats more time to discuss and process the election results and consider a path forward.

Pelosi's victory came only after she promised some changes to assuage concerns in her caucus, including adding a member of the freshmen class to her leadership team and creating a handful of other titled positions. But her proposals do little to ensure new blood at the very top or change the seniority system that has key committees led by lawmakers in their 80s at a moment when the party needs to be defending President Barack Obama's health care law and other initiatives.

Pelosi's top two lieutenants who've served by her side for years were also re-elected Wednesday, both by acclimation. Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer, 77, will continue to serve as Democratic whip, and South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn, 76, will continue in the No. 3 spot as assistant leader.

"We need someone who is battle-tested," Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., told fellow Democrats in nominating Pelosi. "We need our leader to be seasoned, tough."

But some House Democrats did not hide their disappointment at the outcome.

"I am deeply disappointed today as the House Democratic Caucus has decided to double down on its failed strategy of recent years," said Rep. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona. "It is obvious the current strategy doesn't work; millions of Americans don't feel that our party represents them anymore and they've said so, loudly, in multiple elections.

A member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is sounding the alarm over the new changes floated by Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), warning that the minority leader’s proposals could erode the power of African-American lawmakers even as they attempt to spread influence to younger members.

In a note to fellow members of the CBC, Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.) praised Pelosi “for listening to the concerns” of Democrats seeking a new path forward after a disastrous election cycle that will put Republicans in charge of the White House and both chambers of Congress next year.

But he’s also worried that some of the proposals “may have severe unintended consequences that could diminish our power as a caucus” by preventing many longstanding CBC members from rising through the ranks.

Richmond said he’s particularly troubled that Pelosi’s proposals “seem to target the portfolio” of the third-ranking leadership post, currently held by Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.), a 12-term CBC member, by making that position an elected seat reserved for lawmakers who have served three terms or less.

“I understand responsibilities will have to be reallocated in order to make room at the leadership table for others, but we must make sure that we do not send the message that, of the top three leaders, the Assistant Leader bears the blame for our losses,” Richmond wrote.

“As a general note, the proposal creates a number of positions that can only be filled by Members who have served fewer than three or four terms,” he added. “However, we have a number of Members who have been in Congress five or more terms, but have not been able to serve in leadership roles because of stagnation at the top of our leadership structure.”

Several sources on and off of Capitol Hill said Clyburn is also unhappy with the proposed changes. His office did not respond to a request for comment.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) and Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.) both were booed at a breakfast for Florida party delegates on Monday.

The disgruntled delegates started interrupting and booing individuals who were slotted to speak at the event the day the Democratic National Convention is set to start.

“Members of the delegation repeatedly disrupted the lineup of speakers, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, with protestations against Clinton and cheers for her erstwhile primary rival, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders,” Roll Call reported.

Pelosi tried to send a message of unity to the audience despite the boos, which continued as other speakers came to the podium.

In response to Robert Dear Jr.'s murder of three people at a Colorado Springs shopping mall last week, The New York Times exulted:

"Even as politicians and those in Congress pump up public fears at the supposed threat of refugees fleeing Syria, every day in America people -- mostly white men -- are walking into movie theaters, restaurants, churches, grade schools and health care centers armed to the teeth, determined to take as many people out as they can."

Mostly white men???

I know it didn't happen here, but is the Times really going to ignore the murder of 130 people in Paris two weeks ago?

Here at home, an Oregon Community College was shot up in October -- by a mixed-race, half-black immigrant, Chris Harper-Mercer. Nine people were killed. It's hard to remember every sensational crime, but that was just two months ago.

Last year, another mixed-race immigrant, Elliot Rodger, committed mass murder at a sunny college campus in Santa Barbara, killing twice as many people as Robert Dear did -- in half the time! That seemed like a pretty big story to me, but the media passed over it pretty quickly. The Times has airbrushed it from history.

In 2013, two Chechen immigrants -- also allegedly fleeing persecution -- blew up the Boston Marathon.

In 2012, Haitian immigrant Kesler Dufrene murdered as many people in Miami as Robert Dear did in Colorado Springs. One of Dufrene's victims was a 15-year-old girl. Dufrene had already been convicted of a felony in the United States, so he should have been deported, but our "Deporter in Chief" Obama had blocked his return to Haiti. As the murdered girl's mother said, "Because of immigration, my daughter is not alive."

Have you ever heard of Dufrene? I don't think his murders got as much press as the "Planned Parenthood" shooting.

I'm sure you've heard of Jared Loughner. But have you ever heard of Eduardo Sencion?

In 2011, nine months after Loughner's shooting spree in Tucson, Arizona, Sencion, a Mexican immigrant, shot up a Carson City, Nevada, IHOP, killing four Americans, including three National Guardsmen and a 67-year old woman.

Eduardo was a Mexican immigrant. The Times ran two stories on his mass murder -- on Pages 17 and 18. By contrast, Loughner's shooting got dozens of write-ups in the Times, including at least three front-page articles, three editorials and 10 op-eds.

The media are tickled pink whenever they have a white perpetrator because it happens so rarely in a country that is majority white.

In 2009 -- the same year that model second-generation immigrant Nidal Malik Hasan murdered 13 soldiers at Fort Hood -- model first-generation Vietnamese immigrant Jiverly Wong shot and killed 13 people in Binghamton, New York, because he was upset that people disrespected his English skills.

Who holds the record for the deadliest shooting by a single gunman in U.S. history, you ask? That would be Korean immigrant, Seung-Hui Cho, with 32 murders in a matter of hours at Virginia Tech in 2007.

The Times cheered anti-gun advocate Carolyn McCarthy's election to Congress, but today, the paper seems to have forgotten the event that propelled her there: the 1993 Long Island Railroad massacre that left six passengers dead, including McCarthy's husband.

That mass shooting was committed by a Jamaican immigrant, Colin Ferguson.

It hasn't even been a week, and the Times has already run more than a dozen articles on the shooting at a Colorado Springs shopping mall. Hey -- everybody remember the wall-to-wall coverage of the mass shooting at a Salt Lake City shopping mall in 2007? Five people were killed.

Here's a clue: Two days after the attack, the Times ran an article titled, "Anti-Bosnian Backlash Is Feared in Utah." (The killer: Bosnian immigrant Sulejman Talovic.)

After Mexican immigrant Salvador Tapia slaughtered six employees at the Windy City Core Supply warehouse in Chicago in 2003, the Times plastered the story all over -- one article on Page 14 of the late edition. The Washington Post also ran one.

The media use their own lack of coverage as proof that mass murder by non-whites almost never happens. It's exactly what they're doing to Donald Trump over his claim that a lot of Muslims celebrated the 9/11 attack.

At the time, normal people were enraged that the media refused to cover the Muslim reaction to 9/11, all while lavishing endless column inches on a non-existent "backlash" against Muslims.

But now these journalist-referees turn around and insist that the only acceptable proof that Muslims cheered the 9/11 attack is the existence of the very media coverage that they obstinately refused to provide.

There's a reason most people trust their own recollections over media reports.

After 20 years of nearly non-stop mass murder by non-white immigrants in a country that is still majority white, our media have the audacity to claim that tens of thousands of Syrian Muslims are less dangerous than the most pacific human beings in world history: 21st-century white American men.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday dismissed reports that she and Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) struck a deal to avoid a government shutdown shortly before he announced his resignation.

Some conservatives, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), have alleged that before announcing his resignation as Speaker on Friday, Boehner acquiesced to Democratic demands and agreed to fund Planned Parenthood and a litany of other liberal initiatives to avoid a government shutdown.

“The early reports are discouraging,” Cruz said, The New York Times reports.

“If it is correct that the Speaker, before he resigns, has cut a deal with Nancy Pelosi to fund the Obama administration for the rest of this year, to fund ObamaCare, to fund executive amnesty, to fund Planned Parenthood, to fund implementation of this Iran deal, and then presumably to land a cushy K Street job after joining with the Democrats to implement all of President Obama’s priorities, that is not the behavior one would expect from a Republican Speaker of the House,” he continued.

But Pelosi disputed that claim in an interview with host Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday.

“No, I wish it were true,” Pelosi said. “All we have agreed is that we have to honor the calendar which says that on Sept. 30 the fiscal year ends and we have to have a continuing resolution to take us forward as we prepare for the omnibus bill which will take us through the next year.”

Boehner said in a separate interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday that there won’t be a government shutdown because he expects the Senate will pass a continuing resolution to fund the government next week, and that the House will likely take that up and pass it.

Republican leadership is under pressure from the party’s base to defund Planned Parenthood after a string of controversial undercover sting videos were released showing official from the group negotiate the price of aborted fetal tissue for scientific research.

(CNSNews.com)- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) expressed tremendous enthusiasm and optimism at her press briefing today about the nuclear deal that the Obama administration and five other governments has negotiated with the Iranian regime of Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei.

Pelosi called the deal “historic,” “grand,” and “visionary.”

The Congress is currently considering the deal in an unusual procedure that does not handle the international agreement as a treaty but as an agreement between the president and a foreign government.

Under the U.S. Constitution, two-thirds of the Senate must vote to ratify a treaty. But, under special legislation set up to deal with this nuclear agreement, in order to ultimately block the agreement, Congress would need to pass a resolution of disapproval and then muster two-thirds votes in both houses to override a presidential veto of that resolution.

 “This is historic. This is grand. This is visionary. This is about peace,” Pelosi said at her briefing. “Some of our members are saying this is the first time since I have been here that I have been able to vote for peace rather than just against war. So, I have confidence in it. The president has authority to do this. The opportunity for Congress to reject it will be met with rejection. And we go forward.”

Planned Parenthood Tells Media They Should Not Air Undercover Videos

In some areas of the country, Planned Parenthood has gone on the offensive against local and regional news outlets in an attempt to minimize the exposure of damning undercover videos produced by the Center for Medical Progress.

They are telling these outlets that the videos “should not be aired.” This is an attempt at corporate censorship which the establishment press would treat as important news if almost any other business — for-profit or not-for-profit — made such an attempt.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday joined calls for a federal investigation into the California-based anti-abortion group that sparked the Planned Parenthood hidden camera controversy.

“Let’s have an investigation of those people who were trying to ensnare Planned Parenthood in a controversy that doesn’t exist,” Pelosi said Thursday in her first public remarks about Planned Parenthood since the first undercover video surfaced last week.

A long-time abortion rights champion, Pelosi dismissed accusations that Planned Parenthood has raked in profits from its fetal tissue donation program.

“Planned Parenthood has said that they have done nothing illegal,” she said. “They do not ever charge, which would be illegal, for fetal tissue. They have only defrayed the cost of mailing that to someone, which is not breaking the law.”

She also criticized the selectively edited videos released by the Center for Medical Progress, pointing to the “disparities” between actual film and edited versions.

Her remarks come one day after White House press secretary Josh Earnest also defended the women’s health provider.
