Eugenics/Govt Healthcare Watch: In The U.K. NHS Provokes Fury With Indefinite Surgery Ban For Smokers and Obese

The Telegraph
Laura Donnelly, Health Editor 17 October 2017 • 9:00pm

The NHS will ban patients from surgery indefinitely unless they lose weight or quit smoking, under controversial plans drawn up in Hertfordshire.

The restrictions - thought to be the most extreme yet to be introduced by health services - immediately came under attack from the Royal College of Surgeons.

Its vice president called for an “urgent rethink” of policies which he said were “discriminatory” and went against the fundamental principles of the NHS.

In recent years, a number of areas have introduced delays for such patients - with some told operations will be put back for months, during which time they are expected to try to lose weight or stop smoking.

But the new rules, drawn up by clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in Hertfordshire, say that obese patients “will not get non-urgent surgery until they reduce their weight” at all, unless the circumstances are exceptional.

The criteria also mean smokers will only be referred for operations if they have stopped smoking for at least eight weeks, with such patients breathalysed before referral.

East and North Hertfordshire CCG and Herts Valleys said the plans aimed to encourage people “to take more responsibility for their own health and wellbeing, wherever possible, freeing up limited NHS resources for priority treatment”.

Both are in financial difficulty, and between them seeking to save £68m during this financial year.

Evoking Reagan and Thatcher: May Hails New UK-U.S. Special Relationship

weaselzippers

Back to a better time.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Evoking the closeness of U.S. President Ronald Reagan and British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Theresa May and Donald Trump shared a “warm conversation” at lunch on Friday to cement their own “special relationship”, a source in May’s team said.
May’s visit to the United States, the first by a foreign leader since Trump was inaugurated as president, has been hailed by her aides as a resounding success, one, they say, that has strengthened her hand in divorce negotiations with the EU.
A statement from May’s office said Trump pledged to ensure that the trade arrangements that Britain currently has with the U.S. through its membership of the European Union will continue in place the moment it leaves the bloc.
It was not clear how Trump’s aides viewed the meeting on Friday when the two leaders held talks and then had a lunch of baby iceberg salad with blue cheese and braised beef shortribs, but the UK delegation saw the visit as a triumph.
“They talked a lot about Thatcher and Reagan, and both agreed it was one of the most successful political relationships ever,” the source in May’s team said. “Trump went on to say that he always looked up to Reagan and said that he wanted their relationship to be even better than that one.”
Ties between Britain and the United States struck a highly personal tone under Thatcher and Reagan in the 1980s, with the image of them dancing at a ball at the White House epitomising the trans-Atlantic “special relationship”

Britain's New PM: UK Could "Benefit A Great Deal" From Sharia Law

weaselzippers

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi nods in agreement.

Via Express:

May sparked controversy when she spoke out in support of the Islamic courts operating in the country, telling the nation they could "benefit a great deal" from Sharia teachings.

The future Tory leader made the comments as she ordered a review into the system which are accused of ordering women to stay with abusive partners.

Mrs May, said she is worried the courts are "misused" and "exploited" to discriminate against Muslim women, but defended their place in society.

Antidepressants Cost NHS £5.5M A Week

Katie Gibbons
July 6 2016, 12:01am, The Times

(excerpt)

The National Health Service is spending £285 million a year on antidepressant pills

The NHS is spending a record £780,000 a day on antidepressants as failing mental health services struggle to provide alternative therapies, new figures show.

Prescriptions for drugs to treat depression have more than doubled from 29 million in 2005 to 61 million last year. This, combined with the cost of the drugs rising by 7.4 per cent from 2014-15, means that the health service is paying £285 million a year for antidepressant pills.

Despite pledges from the government to increase access to talking treatments such as cognitive behaviour therapy, patients are still routinely handed drugs by GPs rather than being…

NHS Inquiry: British Healthcare System Caused Up To 13,000 "Needless Deaths" Since 2005

Townhall has;
Guy Benson | Jul 24, 2013

The wonders of government-run healthcare:
The NHS’s medical director will spell out the failings of 14 trusts in England, which between them have been responsible for up to 13,000 “excess deaths” since 2005. Prof Sir Bruce Keogh will describe how each hospital let its patients down badly through poor care, medical errors and failures of management, and will show that the scandal of Stafford Hospital, where up to 1,200 patients died needlessly, was not a one-off. The report will also pile pressure on Labour over its handling of the NHS, with the Conservatives likely to seize on it to attack Andy Burnham, the shadow health secretary who was in charge of the NHS in England from June 2009 until May 2010.

Some findings of the damning
Keogh report:
Warning signs were there for managers and ministers to see, includingalarming levels of infections, patients suffering from neglect and appalling blunders such as surgery performed on the wrong parts of bodies...In total Sir Brian calculated that up to 13,000 patients died needlessly in that period. His analysis shows that in the last five years of the last Labour government, from 2005 to 2010, eight of the trusts had death rates well above the average in at least four of those years. Mortality rates at Basildon and Thurrock, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals and East Lancashire Hospitals were statistically “high” – persistently above average – in all of the five years to 2010, while Colchester, Dudley, George Eliot, Tameside and United Lincolnshire were “high” in four out of five years before the general election. At the worst hospital, Basildon and Thurrock, the “mortality ratio” from 2005 until last year was 20 per cent above the NHS average, with up to 1,600 more deaths than there would have been if it had the average level of deaths among its patients. However, from 2005 until 2009 the hospital was given a “good” rating by NHS regulators, first the Healthcare Commission, then its successor, the Care Quality Commission.

Keogh Report said: Inspectors found patients were forced to stay up to two weeks in temporary areas without even shower facilities. Others were left in ambulances “stacked” outside A&E as the hospital failed to cope with demand. Patients were repeatedly moved during an in-patient stay.   The report said temporary areas being used for patients were not fit for purpose. Inspectors said: “For example there were no showers for in-patients in AMU [Acute Medical Unit] where patients were staying for periods of up to 14 days.” Staffing levels were not sufficient, with one nurse left caring for 10 patients at a time during a night shift, and patients waiting for 14 hours in casualty.

At a recent conference of British doctors,
attendees blasted the National Health Service as "worse than Communist China," inveighing against government bureaucrats who have come to dominate patient care:
Doctors at the British Medical Association’s annual conference in Edinburgh called for a system of regulation in response to the Mid Staffordshire Foundation trust scandal, so that managers could be “struck off” forbullying doctors, or putting finances before patients. Dr Peter Holden, a member of the BMA’s GP negotiating committee, said the lack of regulation allowed senior managers to operate in a culture of secrecy and overt bullying, while the most extreme incidents were hidden by gagging clauses. He said: "The result is the perfect toxic professional working environment for this explosive mixture to generate disasters such as Mid Staffordshire which did so much harm to patients. Not even in Communist China did they have managers overruling doctors in the operation of hospitals and health services.

The parade of disgraces at NHS have led some British analysts to call for the "
liberalisation" or "privatisation" of the country's creaky, dysfunctional healthcare system.  And throwing more money at the problem isn't a viable solution:
If cash was the answer, than the NHS would be fixed by now. The great Labour mission (pdf) was to take UK health spending to the European average. It’s now 9.8pc of GDP, well clear of the EU average of 9.0pc (pdf). And UK health outcomes are still lousy. During the last decade Gordon Brown conducted a massive experiment: money was his aim, he doubled the NHS budget and saw what happened. The NHS did not (to put it mildly) become twice as good. It just grew fatter and more expensive. Bureaucrats accrued power that would have shocked hospitals in in Communist China (the Commie reference is not mine, but a remark from the recent BMA conference). And it was the power wielded by these  managers, who overruled doctors, which is emerging as the primary fault behind the failings at Stafford Hospital and the others being outlined tomorrow.

Outcomes for British patients are poor, as they are for Americans on Medicaid -- adeeply broken (and broke) federal program that Obamacare expands on a huge scale.  As Britons look themselves in the mirror over the failures of NHS, American leftists continue to fetishize their system.  The Democratic Party's goal remains the eventual imposition of a British-style, government-run, single-payer healthcare system:

As you might father from the accompanying photo and additional protests, the British Left is committed to maintaining their current system --
even especially if it means fending off free-market improvements.

Thank You Mr Benson and Townhall.

But That's OK, because those evil 'Rich' will FINALLY pay their "Fair Share".

ObamaCare isn't about providing Anything for Anyone.

It's about Envy, Theft, and Snobbery, period.

UK's National Health Service Going Broke, Docs Say It's Worse Than Communist China

CNSNews has;
UK's National Health Service Going Broke, Docs Say It's Worse Than Communist China

July 9, 2013 - 2:05 PM

(CNSNews.com) -- As the U.S. government takes its first faltering steps to implement Obamacare, doctors in Britain are complaining that their country’s £5.6 billion publicly funded National Health Service (NHS) is “worse than Communist China.”
Physicians attending the British Medical Association’s annual conference in Edinburgh said they were fed-up with NHS bureaucrats overriding their medical decisions, “bullying” doctors, and putting money concerns before patient care, according to a June 25 story in the UK Telegraph.
“Not even in Communist China did they have managers overruling doctors in the operation of hospitals and health services,” Dr. Peter Holden, a member of the BMA, is quoted as saying.
But even though British physicians say that NHS bureaucrats are compromising patient care to save money, the government-run healthcare system is about to run out of funds, the Telegraph reported July 5th.
And by 2020, the largest single-payer healthcare system in the world will be running a deficit six times larger than its annual operating budget, forcing the closure of up to 20 percent of Britain’s hospitals, which are already inundated with patients seeking free care.
A recent Telegraph investigation found “ambulance patients waiting up to eight hours” to be transferred to emergency rooms, adding that “the numbers forced to wait at least two hours outside A&Es (Accident & Emergency Centers)  “has risen by two thirds in just one year.”
Not all NHS employees are feeling the pinch. A recent contract gives senior hospital staff a 28 percent pay raise while allowing them to refuse to work evenings and weekends, the Telegraph reported.
Thank You CNS and Ms Hollingsworth.

Strattera: Psych Drug DEATHS As UK State Secrets

AboutLawsuits.com has:

Strattera Liver Injury Reports Continue To Be Received By FDA

And Before you even Read it, ...... We have 1 question:

How many people have actually DIED, or had their liver and kidneys Blown out..... from Undiagnosed, Untreated, ADHD?

Here's 2 keepers from the above.
"The bolded warning indicates that the medication should be discontinued in patients who develop jaundice, which involves a yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes, or who have laboratory evidence of liver injury while taking Strattera."
"Drug induced liver injury is the most common reason for acute liver failure in the United States. A drug may cause chemical damage to liver cells which can result in serious injury to the liver and may cause death. Signs of liver damage may include nausea, jaundice, vomiting, bleeding, abdominal pain or mental confusion. Kidney failure may also be present in some cases."
Mental Confusion? Isn't this stuff peddled to make people Unconfused?

Strattera Adverse Effects: UK Medicines Agency Refuses To Act
"Janne Larsson, an investigator and reporter in Sweden, has obtained information about adverse event reports on Eli Lilly's ADHD drug Strattera, using the Swedish freedom of information laws. The data, coming from both the FDA's adverse reaction database and from reports to the UK's Medicines agency, shows numerous adverse effects and scores of deaths by suicide.

Yet the agency, even after repeated prodding by Larsson to initiate action, has refused to budge or even acknowledge that there is a problem. MHRA apparently accepts the drug's producer Eli Lilly's data rather than its own and the FDA's adverse event reports."

Hasslberger's article has Larsson claiming MHRA "cannot verify the source" of false info regarding Strattera deaths, when it was the Manufacturer itself - Eli Lilly - which Provided that info, ..... To MHRA.

Hasslberger also brings us This report from Janne Larsson:

Suicides and Psychiatric Drugs: A Report Based On Data From The National Board Of Health And Welfare In Sweden. On pg 9:
"Better sources of information are the unpublished clinical trials of psychiatric drugs done by pharmaceutical companies, and the important studies done by independent researchers.

A number of these studies show that antidepressants and neuroleptics increase the risk of suicidal behaviour and directly cause effects that lead to suicide."
As the old Scot in Braveheart said: (right after they cauterized his arrow wound shut with red hot steel): "Shoore and That'll Wake you up in the Morning"

And in This letter from Janne Larsson to Professor Kent Woods: Chief Executive MHRA:
"Add to this the staggering number of adverse events reported internationally for Strattera (the majority for children) Lilly has told the MHRA: During this reporting period, a total of 23,132 spontaneous adverse event reports of atomoxetine [Strattera], representing 58,048 adverse events, were collected by the MAH [Market Authorization Holder; Eli Lilly] [5] This covered the period from November 2002 to March 2006. The number of persons who have experienced suicidality in connection with Strattera treatment has now reached 965 (PSUR 9, p. 106). Up to November 2007 (PSUR 9, Annex 16) there were also 513 case reports about mania, psychosis or hallucinations in connection with Strattera treatment.
Furthermore:

Strattera - 10,998 Adverse "Psychiatric Reactions" reported In Less Than 3 Years
"These agencies, responsible for protecting the public from harmful drugs and for "appropriate treatment", consider a document reviewing the "suicidal and self-injurious behaviour" caused by a psychiatric drug in the category of state secrets, and that it would be "an actionable breach of confidence" to let the public know about these data."
State Secrets? "an actionable breach of confidence?" STATE SECRETS?

Orwell's 1984 is now 25 years behind us in Western Civilization's rear view mirror.

Again: How many people have actually DIED, or had their liver and kidneys Blown out, ..... from Undiagnosed, Untreated, ADHD?

In the pre Public/Private cooperation CHANGE AGENT days Before 'Mental Health' became such a Lucrative obsession, ..... those Untreated ADHD-ers became carpenters, bricklayers, plumbers etc. (I.E. people who actually Contributed to society) Rather than crippled wards, or full time residents of the Granite Orchard, in our Brave New, One World Disorder, National Socialist, For Profit/Non Profit, Non-$cience, State.
