The Wit and Wisdom of Sec State Kerry: Launching Cruise Missiles Into Syria Is Not An Act Of War

Appointing John Kerry as an Industrial Strength Disinfectant to Hillary/Benghazi Bob Clinton's own Presidential aspirations is a true work of art.

Salvadore Dali could not be reached for comment.

If another country parked its Navy off our coast and attacked our military assets with ship based missiles would That be considered an 'Act of War'?

Kerry: President Obama Is Not Asking America To Go To War

Alexis Levinson
Political Reporter

WASHINGTON — Secretary of State John Kerry told lawmakers Tuesday that in requesting authorization to strike Syria, President Barack Obama was not asking to go to war.
“President Obama is not asking America to go to war,” Kerry said, testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, noting that there would be no American “boots on the ground.”
Obama, he said, was “asking only for the power to make clear, to make certain, that the United States means what we say … He’s asking for authorization to degrade and deter Bashar al-Assad’s capacity to use chemical weapons.”
He pointed to Sen. John McCain, a member of the committee, and Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey, who were testifying as well, and said they “know the difference.
Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, the ranking Republican on the committee, said he felt differently earlier on Tuesday.
“This is the most serious policy decision any senator will make,” Corker told reporters. “Authorizing the use of military force is, let’s face it, is a declaration of war against another country, no matter how limited it is, that’s what it is.”
Kerry said that the evidence showed “beyond a reasonable doubt” that the Syrian regime had used chemical weapons to attack the opposition.
“Some people here and there, amazingly, have questioned the evidence of this assault,” he said.
“Only the most willful desire to avoid reality can ascertain this did not occur as described, or that the regime did not do it,” Kerry went on. “It did happen, and the Assad regime did it.

Cultural Competence Slammed By Federal Jury In NY: Blacks AND Whites Must Be Held To SAME STANDARD in Using N-Word

weaselzippers;
Federal Court Rules Blacks And Whites Must Be Held To Same Standard On Use Of N-Word

Sanity prevails.
NEW YORK (AP) — A federal jury has rejected the argument that use of the N-word among blacks can be a culturally acceptable term of love and endearment, deciding its use in the workplace is hostile and discriminatory no matter what.
Jurors last week awarded $250,000 in compensatory damages to a black employment agency worker who was the target of an N-word-laced rant by her black boss, and they return to a Manhattan federal court Tuesday to decide on punitive damages.
The case against Rob Carmona and the employment agency he founded, STRIVE East Harlem, gave legal airing to what some see as a complex double standard surrounding the word: It’s a degrading slur when uttered by whites but can be used at times with impunity among blacks.
But 38-year-old Brandi Johnson told jurors that being black didn’t make it any less hurtful to be the target of what her attorney called Carmona’s “four-minute nigger tirade” about inappropriate workplace attire and unprofessional behavior.
Johnson, who taped the March 2012 remarks after her complaints about his verbal abuse were disregarded, said she fled to the restroom and cried for 45 minutes.
“I was offended. I was hurt. I felt degraded. I felt disrespected. I was embarrassed,” Johnson testified.
Thank You AP, Zip, and Jurors.

Uber-Hawk Pelosi (D-ebt) Sends Letter To House Democrats Urging Them To Support Obama's War In Syria

We have to fight the war to find out whose side we should be on.

[Ed; Perfect, just Perfect. Take a bow Zip.]
Via Politico:
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi sent a letter to fellow House Democrats appealing for their support for military action in Syria in response to alleged chemical weapons use.
“At this critical juncture, it is essential that we make all Americans — the men and women we represent — fully aware of what the intelligence clearly and unequivocally demonstrates: that the Assad regime was responsible for chemical weapons attacks against innocent Syrians, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,400 people, including hundreds of children,” Pelosi wrote to Democrats. [...]
“It is in our national interest to respond to the Syrian government’s unspeakable use of chemical weapons. Indeed, it has been, and remains, a core pillar of our national security — under Democratic and Republican administrations — to prevent, limit, and halt the spread and use of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons,” Pelosi wrote. “This is a matter of national, regional, and global security.”

Did The White House Help Plan the Syrian Chemical Attack?

Did The White House Help Plan the Syrian Chemical Attack?

by Yossef Bodansky

There is a growing volume of new evidence from numerous sources in the Middle East — mostly affiliated with the Syrian opposition and its sponsors and supporters — which makes a very strong case, based on solid circumstantial evidence, that the August 21, 2013, chemical strike in the Damascus suburbs was indeed a pre-meditated provocation by the Syrian opposition.

The extent of US foreknowledge of this provocation needs further investigation because available data puts the “horror” of the Barack Obama White House in a different and disturbing light.

On August 13-14, 2013, Western-sponsored opposition forces in Turkey started advance preparations for a major and irregular military surge. Initial meetings between senior opposition military commanders and representatives of Qatari, Turkish, and US Intelligence [“Mukhabarat Amriki”] took place at the converted Turkish military garrison in Antakya, Hatay Province, used as the command center and headquarters of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and their foreign sponsors. Very senior opposition commanders who had arrived from Istanbul briefed the regional commanders of an imminent escalation in the fighting due to “a war-changing development” which would, in turn, lead to a US-led bombing of Syria.

Bursting The Neuro-Utopian Bubble

The New York Times‘ Opinionator page includes a meditation on the limits of brain research, with the reflection that “The real trouble with the Brain Initiative is not philosophical but practical. In short, the instrumental approach to the treatment of physiological and psychological diseases tends to be at odds with the traditional ways in which human beings have addressed their problems: that is, by talking and working with one another to the end of greater personal self-realization and social harmony.”
Article →More from the article:
“We know, for instance, that low socioeconomic status at birth is associated with a greater risk of developing schizophrenia, but the lion’s share of research into schizophrenia today is carried out by neurobiologists and geneticists, who are intent on uncovering the organic “cause” of the disease rather than looking into psychosocial factors. Though this research may very well bear fruit, its dominance over other forms of research, in the face of the known connection between poverty and schizophrenia, attests to a curious assumption that has settled into a comfortable obviousness: that socioeconomic status, unlike human biology, is something we cannot change “scientifically.””

"The Great DNA Deficit: Are Genes For Disease A Mirage?"

"The Great DNA Deficit: Are Genes For Disease A Mirage?"

August 24, 2013
In an article that contains implications for mental illness, GreenMedInfo reflects on the progress of identifying the genetic basis of medical illness. “What has changed scientifically in the last three years is the accumulating inability of a new whole-genome scanning technique (called Genome-Wide Association studies; GWAs) to find important genes for disease in human populations1. In study after study, applying GWAs to every common (non-infectious) physical disease and mental disorder, the results have been remarkably consistent: only genes with very minor effects have been uncovered. In other words, the genetic variation confidently expected by medical geneticists to explain common diseases, cannot be found.

Antidepressants Nearly DOUBLE The Risk of Postpartum Hemorrhage

A study of 106,000 pregnant women with a diagnosis of mood or anxiety disorder, by researchers from Harvard, Duke, Michigan State and the university of Freiberg finds that exposure to antidepressants increased the risk of postpartum hemorrhage by 1.4 to 1.9 times. Results were published online by the British Medical Journal on August 21, 2013.
