Scheme involved paying kickbacks through a shell company in exchange for patient referrals
A consultant who served as a Medicare biller for the now-defunct Greater Miami Behavioral Healthcare Center Inc. has pleaded guilty to her involvement in a $63 million fraud scheme.
Nery Cowan admitted to directing kickback payments to patient brokers through shell companies, including a sham staffing company called HNB-Stell Care Inc. The kickbacks were paid in exchange for patient referrals to the partial hospitalization program that claimed to provide intensive mental health services. Her two co-conspirators in the case have already been sentenced to 16 and nine years in prison. Announcement
Thank You Mr Sweeny and FHP AF.
