In a speech about the Constitution and the Supreme Court, Senator Jeff Sessions -- the attorney general nominee picked by Donald Trump -- said Justice Sonia Sotomayor, in her speeches over many years, expressed a "post-modern, relativistic, secular mindset" that is "directly contrary to the founding of our republic."

During a June 10, 2016 speech at the Faith & Freedom Coalition Conference in Washington, D.C., Senator Sessions discussed the research that was done for the Senate confirmation hearing of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, who was confirmed to the high court in August 2009.

“Justice Sotomayor, we found she had given a number of speeches over a decade in which she had discussed the court and the philosophy of ruling," said Sessions. "She quoted a philosopher, a legal writer, in this way, and she favorably quoted him. And she would always say, ‘there is no neutrality.’ Quote, ‘no objective stance, but a series of perspectives.’"

"It still makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck – a judge, to say there is no objectivity, just ‘a series of perspectives,'" said Sessions. "And that ‘the aspiration to impartiality’ is just that, an aspiration. "

“You see, this is a post-modern, relativistic, secular mindset," said Sessions. "And I believe it’s directly contrary to the founding of our republic.”

“So, I really think this whole court system is really important," he said, "and the real value and battle that we’re engaged in here is one to reaffirm that there is objective truth. It’s not all relative."

"And that means some things are right and some things are wrong," said the senator.

"And we’re getting too far away from that in my opinion and it’s not healthy for any country," he said, "and it’s really not healthy for a democracy like ours that’s built on the rule of law.”

Thank You Senator Sessions, Mr Chapman and CNS.
