Producer of Katie Couric Anti Gun Hit Piece Says She Commited Federal Gun Felony

And Katie's sorry about the deceptive hit piece.

Give the viewers time to consider?

The report from Redstate is far more damaging than first appears.

Read the comments. Gun owners are unintelligent, backwards, knuckle draggers?

Not this crowd. Not by many a mile.

In an interview with “The Lip TV,” director of Katie Couric’s fraudulently edited “Under the Gun” documentary admitted, on camera, that she broke federal law.

According to director Stephanie Soechtig, a producer for the documentary from Colorado was sent to Arizona, where he purchased firearms – a Bushmaster – from a private seller in a Wendy’s parking lot.

Soechtig goes on to say this is legal to an appalled host. “How is that legal? That sounds like black market trading,” said the host.

The host is closer to the truth in her ignorance than Soechtig is in her lie. While the Soechtig claims she knows nothing about this happening, the punchline is that, if they did do this, then they broke federal law.

Ammoland gives us the run down.

Under current federal law it is a violation for any person to transfer, sell, trade, give, transport, or deliver any firearm to any person who the transferor knows or has reasonable cause to believe does not reside in the state in which the transferor resides. (18 U.S.C. § 922(a)(5).) Thus, by asking a private party in Arizona to sell the Colorado producer firearms, Ms. Soechtig and her staff induced an otherwise law abiding citizen to commit a federal crime. There was nothing legal about what Ms. Soechtig and her staff did, despite their slanted attempt to portray in their documentary the private sale of firearms as unregulated and legal.

It is also unlawful for any person other than a dealer to transport into or receive in the state where they reside any firearm purchased or otherwise obtained outside that State. (18 U.S.C. § 922(a)(3).) Violations of these laws results in a hefty fine and a felony conviction of up to five years. (18 U.S.C. § 924(a)(1)(D).) Further, if two or more persons conspire to commit any offense, and at least one person commits an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy, each party to the conspiracy can also face an additional fine and imprisonment for up to five years. (18 U.S.C. § 371.)

So now we’ve got another lie on top of the false editing that occurred. Only instead of costing one journalist whatever credibility she had left, it may – if there’s any justice – cost someone time in prison.

This is a further attempt to make gun owners seem like lawless, and careless would be criminals. The truth is, most are highly educated in regards to their rights, and the laws they need to follow in their respective states. The true ignorance lies with Couric, who edited video to make it seem as if gun owners were clueless, and Soechtig and her staff who may very well have broken Federal law.

Thank You Mr Morse, Redstate, and commentators.
